I believe this has been discussed before, but how do you get the wings on the Murcie to stay up at all times and how do you get them to come back down after you mod them to stay up at all times? I have a 2002 Murcie and would love to keep the wings up at all times since it looks that much more intimidating! Thanks for any help!

    Britton,

To keep the wings up at all times you need to turn on the car and hit the button to lift the wings, then turn off the battery swith then back on(while car is still on) after a few seconds. The wings will stay up at all times until you take it back to service and have the wings reprogrammed.

Personally I think it's the most intimidating when you see them raise up on their own.

I agree with you....but this time of year they will never come up since they only come up when its 85 degrees outside.

Is that really smart though? Im sure Lamborghini put a lot into figuring out when to have the wings raised and when they are lowered, having them opene at all times doesnt seem like a great approach to me. Even if it does look intimidating.

    Britton,

First off, nice ride. Your color choice was great.

You may be able to find more complete answers by using search. I know I've personally written about this subject before.

That said, to keep the winglets up, simply disconnect the battery while they are in the up position.

Once in the up position "permanently," to bring the winglets down you have 2 choices. One is to have an authorized Lambo dealer reset the code. The other is to cycle the ignition 3 times while depressing the winglet button the entire time. I know both methods work, and have done the latter several times on my own car.

    Most welcome.

When in the permanently raised position, make sure your air vents don't suck in small children or animals. They are pretty big!

I was wanting to do the same on my merci and my tech reccomended against it saying that it was going against the computer and you could be running the engine to cool...

He said if the car was meant to have them up all the time Lamborghini would have given you that option...

I would like to have them up..does anyone have more details on this.

BTW My first post, I own a pearl yellow '02 murci :)

    Hey Cantwait,
From what I know, the whole VACS system is purely for design aesthetics (sp). The countach and diablo had very large air intakes on the shoulders to allow for enough air to enter the engine at the most extreme conditions. This was aerodynamically (especially in the countach's case) poor. So having variable air intake makes the car a lot more streamline.

I don't know if you could run the engine too cold though?
