They got precisely the reaction they were trying to provoke. Do you think this is reality tv? What you didn't see on the show were the hundred or thousands of folk they ran into that didn't give a flying fig about their nonsense. After all, these guys are next seen making a big deal about a little thunderstorm. Cry much?
Anyone know what episode that was from? I would like to see if there was more to it. I thought it was hilarious.
Sorry but the guy is an idiot, and I'm not sure of what value his car testing is on the shows he does.........(and his buddies). He's like Simon with curly hair....
To be honest their lucky they didnt get their asses kicked. I also like how they ran and wiped everything of the sides of their cars.
Few min's longer and I believe they would have, or worse. I don't think they took it as serious as they should have...
They were looking for a reaction, and found one. If ya go around poking at people long enough, someone is going to poke back. Darrell.
Yep, I'm sure any of us could go to England with a "Manchester United Sucks" painted on a car in certain areas and get the same reaction. Actually, they probably would be faster than the people in 'Bama and just burn your car.
Personally I think the Alabama gas station scene was at least partly staged. If they were really that scared I think Captain Slow would have jumped in the Dodge Ram with Brokeback and high tailed it out of there, instead faffing around getting a jump start. Still, it was entertaining.
Funny clip I love how the people on here are overreacting too. Americans' humour is based dominantly on ripping on other cultures and customs (like Southpark, Family Guy etc) which is quite funny and I enjoy it alot. Yet when someone decides to mock Americans themselves you see people fuming about it and getting all defensive saying things like 'o you see this everywhere, its not only in America bla bla bla.' Flame suit on, bye!
I agree. I find Clarkson to be hilarious but honestly, why should I or anyone living in this country care what he says about Americans? His opinions don't change my life in anyway and they hold minimal factual backing. Has he ever lived in the US? No, so he really has no idea what it is like to live here. Just like Americans poking fun at Mexicans or Indians, etc. It's just humor. But you also make your point as if only Americans get upset when made fun of? So you're saying if well respected, famous Americans voiced derogatory stereotypes about Brits no one would be upset about it?
I think that the same reaction would have been elicited had they driven the cars down the streets of Old Trafford with "David Beckham sucks it" on the side. And for God's sake they live in England, dosen't it rain there like 300 days a year?
That episode was brilliant, though I do agree with comments about Clarkson taking his apparent dislike of America too far, it makes me wince when watching. Its a shame because the underlying message of the show was an important one, imo, and the show should be viewed for it. Also, I love the angle this thread and the one on you tube is taking, i.e. US hicks vs. UK yobs whos got the most deranged citizens?! Regards Billy Bob Martin H Jr
I'm watching the episode right now. Each of them have to buy a car for $1,000 or less and they're going on a road trip starting in Miami for two weeks. They're seeing if they can sell their cars again and come out spending less money than renting a car. Right now I'm at the part where they're still shopping for cars.
Maybe for their next show they will go to Compton and but Rebel Flags on their cars. Could you post a link.
None. But thats a well known and long acknowledged fact. Its been more an entertainment show than anything informational for quite some time now. Personally, I usually find it funny.
