hmm, don't know the history of that one, but if true, that would make at least 2 former crashed F40's for sale. Getting hard to find no story ones...

Just curious, I wonder if those guys will disclose it. The price seems a bit low so I assume it reflects the hit?

    $370k for a 15k mile car - is that low? That makes my 1700 mile '91 worth - let's see - $750K. ;)

    "At least!"

I always trust my fellow owners when it comes to unbiased valuations.

Perhaps I'll ask $995k, that will leave me a little bit of room for negotiation. But at these prices, the luggage doesn't go with the car.

Well sorry for assuming it was priced low. I just noticed the miles when you said it. Also, here in Canada they also bring in ALOT more money.

Vasco, I didn't mean to criticize your post! The market seems to change so quickly, and prices have come so far in the past two years, that I just don't know what's fair. For obvious reasons, I'd be delighted to see 15k mile cars actually sell in the high 300s.

    Regards, Will

No worries Will. As you say prices have moved around alot in the last 2 years and that's probably why I was a bit lost.

Yours has 1700 miles? You need to change that ;)

    Best,

I had 3 firm offers for mine at Cavallino (it isn't for sale) '92 1300 miles...not one was south of 400k. I believe the market has and is shifting...

Best bet for a good deal these days is the private market...finding a good one is the key and from what I can gather, they are hard to find.

Wouldn't sell mine for less than $400k either and it has a lot more miles than that.

Found mine on F-chat...Thanks Rob! ;)

Was this the one-car accident on the wet road? Trying to beat around the bush of saying who the owner is.

What was the extent of the damage? I am close enough I would love to go see if you can still find evidence of its previous history, but with a F40 I imagine they do a pretty good job of cleaning up the over spray and sanding the tape lines. It would be interesting to know the history and see if you could detect it however. Anyone know the prior damage, and ownership history doesn't matter to me haha.

Edit: here are the GPI pics:

Saw the link, but wasn't sure that was the entire report. I thought their FREE reports were more of a condensed basic version, but it has been a while since I've used their service.

I wouldn't doubt Jeffrey - not even with your $369,950

Unequivocally ... yes. I saw the car in person the day after the accident. The dealer has confirmed - via email to another friend of mine - that the car did sustain damage and that certain pieces were replaced. They did not try to represent it as a completely original undamaged car. However, the content of their email in no way accurately described the extent of the damage.

All this being said ... the dealer may be somewhat blameless at this point. We can't immediately assume they are hiding something. For all we know they don't know the whole story. How they acquired the car is unknown. The Carfax is clean. The car looks like it was repaired nicely (at least the pics looks great).

If the damage was not fully disclosed to them from the source they acquired the car from and they did not do their due diligence then all they might be guilty of is not being smart buyers. However, since they are a dealer it is important that they inspect the car carefully prior to them selling it so they are able to make an accurate representation to the next owner.

In the end ... it's buyer beware ... which is why I made the post in the first place. I did not want an unsuspecting Fchat member to acquire a car that has a story that they were unaware of.
