Your post made me howl with laughter, this is a great (long) story It is my car, although I have not seen it yet!

My friend and I Glenn, went to Barrett Jackson this year he was interested in a bunch of odd cars I was only interested in the 85 QV, I have been researching them for about 2 years. He does not know or care about anything Ferrari. I educate him about why I want the euro version my preference being 85 but I could live with an 84 (rust proofing). I bid on the BJ car my limit was $37,000 and I was out on the 3rd bid. That car sold for $57,000. Glenn bought 3 cars at BJ I came home empty handed.

Glenn and I are from Calgary, Canada, he and his family are in TN visiting his inlaws, he is surfing ebay, sees the 308, it is only 40 min from where he is, he makes the appointment, goes and sees it.

He calls leaves a message says that he found a perfect car, drove it it is great, I am swamped at work I don't call him back until that night, when I find out the price I say you gotta go and put a deposit on it for me, he says it is sold.

I am pissed I did not call back earlier!

Now I check ebay EVERYNIGHT (have been doing so for about a year), I did not even see this car it went up after I went to bed and was sold before I checked the next day.

Glenn calls back 10 min later saying he could not keep the secret, he bought it and will sell it to me for what he paid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here I sit waiting for my car to be delivered, the manuals and receipts I pick up tomorrow night.

When it comes to GREAT friends, I am blessed!!

    Good story Jay!

Sometimes you gotta move fast for the right car. That's why you do all that due dilligence on these cars beforehand. When you see the right one at a reasonable cost -you just have to go for it.

I originally was looking for an 85QV Euro spec GTB but gave up looking after a couple of years. I did buy a concours 86 GTB just to get my seat into a car and I appreciate the ease of maintenance. Only problem is I still want a 85 Euro spec GTB to add to the collection. Since you are now an owner, best advice is to sign up for FChat and post pics for the rest of us to see.

That thing came on late at night and i e-mailed the guy at like 5 am asking for the exit number he lived near off of I-40. It was gone a few hours later.

I wish ya luck with the car..let us know how it checks out and please post some pics.

Now stay in your own country next time..ok?

Great story Fiset. There's a fellow in Calgary who used to (probably still does) do a lot of work on Ferrari's. PM me if you'd like to me to search my memory for a name.

I went out and got my info, it is VERY exciting, very little of it in english, however I will spend more time on it this weekend. It will need a major service pretty quickly, it has been 7 years but only about 5000 miles and the thread of upgrades has me thinking, but I am going to wait until I actually get my hands on the car. The previous owner did some odd things, like paint the mirrors red.

Are you thinking of Zahir at ZR motors?

I will be going to see him next week.

Climb I just wanted to wish you luck on your search. I am already making arrangements for the major service, interior upgrades etc. I will keep you posted as to how it goes once I get in there.

Here is a pic of Glenn my friend the day he picked it up.
