Here are a few pictures of a project I finished last Spring. I found the tweed at a local arts & crafts store. For anyone interested in doing it yourself its really not so hard - just time consuming. Mine had stains from water infiltration and tears. I was prepared to take the car to a trim shop if I found myself in over my head. The targa top turned out to be the most challenging part of the project due to the tight curves and convex surfaces. Probably the most interesting part was the cost. Not including the foam seals, the job cost less than $50.00! (fabric & trim adhesive) :)

    Sweet! great job!
I've been wanting to do this to the Mondi but with Alcantara on the dash and doors to get rid of the glare. one day when I'm not busy under the hood.

    Nice :)

Question, how do the panels come out (the flat part below the window and the pillars?)

Are the screwed in or just clipped in?

You start in the engine compartment. On my car there are 3 or 4 nuts under the shelf. Once the big pannels (2 pieces) are out you can remove the two small parts at the back of each side. The B-pillar pieces have visable screws and plastic trim fasteners. The top part is held in place by the targa latches and the third brake light. Once you get the rear shelf out the sequence becomes apparent.

The part that goes under and across the rear window is made of fiberglass. That part is held in from behind with nuts ( accessible from the engine compartment ).

Great job, well done. Mine are in good shape for now, but I know down the road, I will have to replace them, will keep this thread in mind.

Nice. But I thought the windows had to come out for this job? Is that not correct?

No glass has to be removed. I would, however, recomend that if you're going to install new carpets you do it at the same time because some of the same pieces have to come out for that as well. Thats the only regret I have because removing the shelf is a real PITA.
