Drastically reduce heat in the F430 engine bay? and add more sound Character at the same time. how read on..

I Know by Reading previous threads on this subject that
a few of you have already tried this for the advantages of increasing the sound factor.
but I don't think anyone has commented on the reduced heat advantage l personally was amazed by the difference.

for those that haven't tried this here's how
Remove the suction pipes from the exhaust by-pass valves located on both sides of of the silencer on the exit pipes

Get hold of the hose on the actuator twist and pull no need to remove the clip, plug the end's of the hoses and go for your usual blast (l used some 4mm steel dowels) when you get back lift the rear hood first thing you will notice is that the heat does not hit you in the face next,
I kid you not you can actually rest both hands on the silencer, (careful)
The air boxes are noticeably cooler which has to be an advantage regarding induction efficiency.
As many of you already know by doing this
the actuator gates remain open and hence by-pass the silencer reducing the amount of exhausted gasses passing through the silencer means the spent gasses don't heat up the silencer less heat
nice sound to boot I have some of that!

CAN YOU POST SOME EASIER MORE STEP BY STEP'S INSTRUCTS FOR US NOT SO INCLINE - PLEASE

WOULD THIS ALSO CREATE MORE FLAMING FROM THE EXHAUST TIPS??

Great detailed comments. It's what I had done before Ferrari of Atlanta delivered my car. The heat is not even close to my 360. I feel that the opening grids on the rear of the bumber help with the heat situation.

This does make sense, because it allows the exhaust gasses to promptly flow out of all 4 tubes of the muffler.

The valves hold the exhaust gasses within the muffler to allow them to burn more thoroughly to meet smog requirements.

If you prevent this from happening naturally the area will be cooler as the gasses are now passing through and out of the muffler.

ok, but if something drastic happens, are they going to void your warranties?

The only "drastic" thing that will happen is thst you'll be depressed if you don't drive that car more!!!

I guess being constantly open to the cats would have flame effects especially on overrun

3500 to 3800 is the only part of the rev range that could get tiresome on constant throttle above or below ...perfect

IMO the cats are running cooler too because of the reduced back presure

i doubt if holding onto the gasses for longer make much difference to the smog factor after all that's what the cats are for ..right IMO it's more to do with noise emissions

big deal put the pipes back on heck my way even retain the original clips.
if like me you drive these things as Ferrari intended the valve gates are open 80% of the time, in any case does that mean a 80% chance of things going wrong with them on?
the only draw back I have found so far is the motor takes much longer to get up to temperature so take your time warming her up fully

Ferrari of Atlanta did the modifications for me and said that nothing happens to void the warranty.

here is a picture of the valve connected.
Changing out the cats on the 430/360 really really reduces heat in the engine bay.

NO!!! plug them otherwise the mixture will be too lean at idle and the ECU will not be able to compensate and will set a cel code for mixture adaptaion at lean limit. PO170-173 i think.

make sure you do plug the end of the hoses or they will draw air into the system you don't put them back on just Tuck the hoses out of the way along back of the chassis zip tie if you want but not necessary
    hope this helps
