    Ok folks,

I thought I'd set this thread up before i receive it just for the anticipation factor. The first picture is the actual car, the rest are more or less what it will end up looking like minus the stripes.

I bought a good quality Dave Brookes built Dax Cobra the other week and at present the car is in London being stripped down to a bear shell. Its dark blue at the moment with silver stripes and being resprayed to Imperial blue with no stripes as i think stripes are for homos :D . The interior is being fully re-fitted as well just to clean it up so new carpets and full vanilla leather should be pretty tidy. In essence, it will be brand new with a 5000 mile 5.7l V8 engine so run in nicely. Need i say it goes like stink but there is potential for so much more apparently but I'm not sure if i want to go down that road to be honest. The hard top is a lovely touch imo as it somewhat resembles the coupe version and the 250GTO a tad by looking at the 2nd picture. The bars on the front and back will also be removed to see the curves a ted better.

The car itself is an 05 reg as can be seen by the first picture. How long i will keep it i do not know. The next car on the list is the Diablo and that'll be me finally happy with what lies in the garage.

Hope you like and if anyone wants to p'shop off those white stripes in the 2nd picture, feel free as i dont know how to do it. I find myself covering half the picture with my hand to guess what it looks like. :(

    Regards,

    Matthew

Thanks Rob. Yes I am. Ultimately its still not my dream car but its good to wind my way up the list and I've always been successful in buying cars that do not lose value. My taste has always been a bit extravagant and when people see a new crazy car in Glasgow, they usually know its me.

Cant wait to drive the baby home from London, no stereo though, just two big fat ass side pipes!!!

Cheers Mark, see I'm figuring that I can have them vinyled on if i wanted a change. I prefer without but I always like change so its good to have the option. Most are painted on I found.

    Will do

Thanks Adam, just what i was looking for, cheers

I know, i really sh4t myself when i test drove it and they are known to be widow-makers. Not sure if I'd have the balls to take it on the track though cos i think that back end would be uncontrollable in terms of drifting etc

Cheers mate, The guys who are doing all the work are documenting it so wont be a problem.

Ok so 3-4 weeks turns into 8 wks, soon to be 10, aaaaagh!!

Anyway, i saw the car for the first time since i bought it back in May (i think). Its been fully sprayed and the interior trimmed however they quilted the leather along the tunnel of the car and i didnt want it like that so delay delay delay. More leather ordered from Germany then i choose to visit the car today knowing that i'll be driving it up to Glasgow on Friday. More drama, the leather on the dash had split at the stitching and i wasnt prepared to accept it, no way. Anyway, more leather needs to be ordered so could be another 2 weeks before i see it and drive it away.

The pictures are really not too great but it gives us a hint of whats to come. Its on the ramp so the wheels are floating.

I cant wait to see it with the roof on and love it without the stripe!

Matt. The homo stripes are a must, but in white with no pinstripe to the outer edges. Dax Cobras are one of the best recreation makers around however, I'd bin the 2nd roll hoop over the passenger 'cos it screams "kit" from a mile away.

Drove a mates Dad's Cobra replica with a Reynard chassis and a 385bhp Ford with a 4-speed Muncie... absolute blast... you will have a great time, just make sure it's in a fairly straight line before you nail it!!!! :D

Cheers Steve, although Imperial blue is very popular with them, i still love it and have it on another car of mine.

Hmmm and would you care to enlighten me on that Mr Ingles, i think i know where your going though.

The homo stripes!! :D Its not that i dont like them but i love it without and especially with the roof i think its going to ooze class. Apparently when the paintshop heard the customer wanted the stripes removed, they were a tad shocked. I figured the stripes could be vinyled on if i wanted them. Thinking the thick solid white one or twin if i did at a later stage (which i might just do).

Interesting about the passenger rool hoop, I know exactly what you mean although I'm wondering how the feck i cover up the holes in the bodywork now cos i would do it!

Yeh I'm thinking of trying to pass it for a 250GTO this time, not sure what my chances are though, not much but i could just sneak in through the trees or something :D

I guess if you're having it painted, a little filler where the passenger hoop went could be easily blended in?
