After a lengthy delay, I finally got my mat grabbers installed to hold my new mats (courtesy of GCalo). Everything looks sweet, the mats are really plush. I had to make brackets to mount the grabbers (512TR). I will say this: take your time getting the grabbers in the right spot, because they are almost impossible to get loose. I think the mats will come apart before they let go. Luckily, I undo the brackets and can leave the grabbers in place if I am removing the mats. I haven't had time to take it out for a drive, but I am pretty sure it will sound better AND pull harder with the new mats!

I guess I am out of the loop--What is the purpose of the grabbers?? Hold them in place??

Just guessing they are Birdman's mat grabbers that prevent the driver's side mat from causing unwanted 10,000 RPM accelerations when the mat get's caught up in the gas pedal?

Weren't those grabbers originally marketed as "rug munchers" ?

Yes, the mat grabbers (birdmans) are to keep the mats from slipping. This car is old school: no power this or that, no computer nannies, and no fancy tidbits to keep the mats from sliding.

And no Daniel, your mind must be elsewhere...too much time playing with parts? ;)
