Before you debate too much you might want to check availibility. If you can find a set be prepared to spend some big$$$ to purchase. Depending on condition you may have to figure in some $$ to have them refinished.
Personally I would have them crack tested if they have alot of use.

Bruce is absolutely right. Damn your good Bruce lol. GruppeM has this metal testing machine. Even picks up hairline cracks. They did that to all 4 of mine just in case from the last owner. Fortunately they are all ok. They are prolly cheaper in the US then they are in japan.

So how much horsepower is being anticipated here??? Should we start a poll?? Say in 5hp increments over 300hp to the wheels??? :)

What a great idea Chris!!! Athough it should be poll, I dont know what you are thinking about but it is not in the 355 thought process!!

As for a contest.....Scissors, a hairdryer or maybe a selection of quality hair products ;)!!!

X you are doing a great job!!!! You are building your car the right way.....you are very thorough and sparing no expense. I could only wish that others took pride in 355 ownership when doing mods as you have. And for that you have my upmost respect.

Do you have any detailed views of the heat shiled around the alternator? That is becoming important as they are getting cooked with the exposed headers.

    Thanks

Just the picture i took. They created that and lined them with some type of heat absorbing material.

Actually Bruce, what do you think about the heat shields around the alternator?

X I really can't comment. This is something that you may want to keep an eye on. You could use a digital scanning thermometer to check temps. The alternator will let you know sooner or later if that shielding is sufficient.
That little shield still does not address overall underhood temps.

I am getting ready to fabricate some type of shield. I installed NAPerformance headers and the next day my alternator failed. The header tube is about an inch away from the top of the alternator and I can't help but think it caused it. I installed a new regulator and rectifier, drove it for ten minutes and again the alt failed. The regulator has a heat sink built into it so it obviously is sensitive to heat and should be protected. It also is a the top of the the alternator closest to the pipe.
