One of the few great cars still being run in anger. The guys who maintain her are very good and will have her back in shape. Hope Peter's ok.
Didn't Petula Clark sing " don't sleep in the subway darling, don't play in the pooring rain" ? JG, I truly admire your passion.
Is this the Le Mans Classic? Sorry to see the car like this. I'm sure it will be repaired. As long as the driver's ok (Peter Hardman?) Best, Peter
Remarkable he went out in this type of weather. But then again, I would be nervous taking 0844 out anyway. Damage seems relatively minor. I assume the driver is ok.
Received this info: "it was a 'guest driver' - neither Peter H. nor Nicky L. at the helm - and that it was a non-fault accident" Best
It hurts to see her like that but she is still so beautiful ! Plus she got hurt while doing what she does best.
I know it pains many of us to see it. But then it comes with the territory. There are great highs and lows as we are all aware, and this one won't be so low in time.
Ouch - it does make one cringe a bit . Well, its a racing car, a tough old bird who has been rebuilt before and will probably be rebuilt again. It's just what they do. Glad to see it being out driven around and no one hurt I hope. To paraphrase Phill Hill's attitude on these grand old cars: "If it's worth a lot of money it's worth fixing..."
here is a link to lots of nice pics of the car (pre-accident)... http://www.topspeed.com/cars/ferrari/ferrari-330-p3-one-of-the-most-beautiful-race-cars-in-the-world-ar8818/pictures.html
There is no better compliment than having one's shots stolen and ruined by large watermarks. I guess it's time to add some better shots to my article.
One threatening letter or email from a lawyer or representative will take care of that. Great shots, by the way!
check this link here http://www.virhistory.com/vir/68-sept/rbs-0968-01.jpg this shows 0844 in its prime and that def aint the same body as the one we saw in the pic jim posted.
Hmmm, actually the left rear wheel has taken a very hard hit as that wheel is broken ... that means that the rear of the chassis has taken a bang!!!Hopefully the wishbones are weak enough to bend and thus save the chassis, BUT we know from #0846 that this sort of bang damages the chassis (re accident in TF). Pete
Well...........0844 started with a P3 berlinetta body in 1966 - wonder where that went? then got a 412P berlinetta body for 1967 - ditto......... then the Can-Am spyder body it wore all through Medlin's ownership and until Leventis bought it - presumably in store now. (seen here at Goodwood in 1997: http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/1783/0844june97yc0.jpg and now it's got a 'David Piper' body, presumably made quite recently by Allegretti. So there are two missing original 1966/67 bodies unaccounted for.......... Paul M
