I love the new QP and would certainly consider getting one down the line but I'm curious to know how well the Ferrari engine has been holding up in that type of installation. Remember, there probably aren't many F430s with high mileage on them, so that would be my biggest concern with buying one with 50K plus on it. Same concerns for the gearbox. Does anyone know of a QP with "high" miles on it yet? Inevitably, there has to be at least one out there with at least 75K on it that some wealthy exec who hates to fly owns.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

At a recent dealer meeting I was told there is an '05 QP in Seattle that has covered about 65k miles!

I have 63K miles on my O5 QP. The thing has some great road trips under its belt. I drive it hard; which it seems to like. Always in Manual/Sport.

Seems its just reaching its sweet spot now. After about 40K it seemed to loosen up nicely and settle in just right. Never been stranded; just normal maintenence and uniintersting warranty stuffl. Did have to replace a rear wheel bearing at about 60K. Lots of tire issues though; but finally have that figured out. Also the paint around the cowl and the obvious places around the front of the rear wheel well is sand blasted. The car lives in Palm Springs in the winter and gets a lot of high speed driving in the desert.

I'm on the second clutch which was last done at about 28K miles. Brakes done at about 45K miles. No F1 Pump issues. I have written reports on the experience at the end of year one and end of year two; you can find them by looking at my posts on the ************ board http://www.************.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear that your car is fairing well at 63K. Now the big question is how well will they hold up beyond 100K?

I'm curious, do they require the same sort of servicing as the F430 does? And even then, I don't know how maintenance intensive the 430 is.

IMO with all the worries, you might want to consider a Lexus LS460....everyone knows they last 100k+

OT, but how has the Rancho Mirage dealer been? I have talked with them but haven't had the Maser serviced there - just considering an alternative to my current dealer.

They have been good to and for me. I've had my QP serviced there a few times. They have easily been the strongest of the Southern California Maser dealers (which may not be saying much). David Carpenter, the Maser service manager has been great to work with, as has Manny, the primary Maser tech.

The Maserati/Ferrari motor is very strong. We raced a Maserati Coupe in the Rolex Series in 2004 Our first race was the 24 hours of Daytona and after a off road excursion caused by heavy rains , the radiator busted and and we DNF. We installed a new engine for 2nd race. That engine went 11 races without any breakdowns. ( we managed a few podium finishes). That is durability.

Not to hijack too much, but I hear that there is an LS in Salt Lake with over 600,000 miles on in.
