http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320179305659&rd=1 Anyone know it? Comments? I'm definitely interested in a 355 GTS 6speed (and non-red)... what's this little honey worth? Registered as a personal vehicle on 8/15/97, then registed as a lease vehicle on 5/12/99. But it does indicate it is a 1-owner car... Of course it seems every Ferrari has some odometer descripency on Carfax. This one: 4/11/2003: 13,489 11/28/2005: 161,012 05/25/2007: 17,355 Of course most likely the 11/28 entry was supposed to be 16,102 or something...
The bad thing about it is Carfax probably screwed up, but the owner will take the hit for it. There are some people who will not buy a car with that kind of discrapency. It is unforunate---Carfax should be sued because I heard it takes years to get a mileage screw up straigtened out by them even it is there fault...They basically want the owner to provide all documentation of the error even if the error occurred before the present owner..
I certainly would not be sucked into the "extremely rare car" syndrome. It is a nice combination of features - 6 spd, blk/tan, GTS, low mileage. I would inquire about service and valve guides along with checking the exhaust headers. PPI it for sure. I'd put the price in the high $60's/low 70's, but that is what I would pay assuming it did not need a major right away. You could add more for valve replacement, exhaust replacement, etc.
"19,XXX miles now, up to 20,500 when you get it." Huh? They plan on driving the snot out of it right up until someone buys it?
I had carfax fix an odometer screw up once on a Porsche. They will do it if you show them records before and after, or any record within 6 months if it's way off like this. I'm sure this guy meant to list this with a reserve. Just wait, he will modify the listing. Looks nice.
Certainly looks like he knows it's a no reserve. The odo discrepancy (sp) is not good, but considering how ridiculous it is (jumping almost 145,000 miles in 31 months) I'd say the hit won't be that bad, clearly it's a mistake (unless the owner drove it 150+ miles a day EVERYDAY for 2.5+ years) Plus, and this is totally off topic, CarFax is such a complete joke anyway, you can't trust it. Back to the car, nice enough, will certainly be a good retail price, and looks like a pretty cool car. I'd probably agree with the mid to high 60's assement for final bid.
Ok, Ok, my $.02 If the Carfax is incorrect, as everyone here agrees it is, than how can we guess that this car would sell in the low 60s? Didn't a Euro GTS just sell from a dealer in FL that had clear, physical odo manipulation for about the same thing? If this car can be had for low 60s, and Carfax can get their act together, I'll by the car, fix the report and sell it in the spring for $72K.
Yea but the 348 I was also buying fell through. MBHIP! Money Burning Hole In Pocket LOL. No hurry but I want a 355gts 6speed so this one is worth a look. May have a PPI done on it Fri/Sat. But that BIN price seems out of line to me. At least if it's really no reserve and runs it's course, the market will push it where it should be. Looks like the same seller just sold a 355 spider with no reserve as well: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320160159540 (and positive feedback was left, so guess the deal went through).
I have to fill this place up... don't have that GT3 anymore but do have a 996 Turbo cab. I figure a 308, 355gts, and 996 Turbo Cab would be a nice trifecta. p.s. all 3 bays are wired for lifts if I want to add some more space later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hehe. Not exactly. Built it a few years ago, so it's not quite that clean right now... Here's a link to pics of it being built from dirt to done: http://www.hooville.net/forums/showthread.php?t=64
I wouldn't make a bg deal out of the odo on Carfax. It is obviously a typo. Given the time interval, it is ridiculous to think that someone actually ran up the mileage on that car, then replaced the speedo. As for price, if you can get that car in the low 60's it is a steal. The buy-it-now price is wishful thinking on the seller's part. For that money it's a perfect '99 or a '98 with F1.
Beautiful garage Scott! If you don't mind my asking, what are the dimensions? I built a 30X40 three stall this summer, but it is not insulated nor sheet rocked. I am planning a lift as you have, as I have 12 foot side walls. Unfortunately I just blew all the garage money on a 348ts last weekend so it probably won't get finished til spring. Love the way you have it set up though, might borrow some ideas from you. Steve

Those are photos from when it was first completed -- the floors definitely have some oil stains now.... but I like the clean photos better!
Seems pretty evident that was a clerical error. Carfax will fix the problem with a simple error indication form. Iv'e had it done before on a 360. The dealer selling the car can have the problem easily resolved if he attemts the correction.
