I had Canal Street Specials while in high school, but they all broke. I'm just using a Fossil until I can actually afford to buy a 'real' watch. (I'm 18)

My brother bought a "Rolax" (that's what was on the face of the watch) in Mexico while in high school. It didn't last long, mechanically, but as he put it, by the time anyone noticed, her panties were already off.

I bought a few "replica" rolexs before I bought my first. I tried a 50th submariner, a "pepsi" bezel GMT and then a red black GMT. I wanted to see which watch I liked first before I shelled out the real money for an authentic one.
I now own a real all black GMT master II and a white Daytona :)

I had a replica Rolex for a while to see if I liked the style. It broke, I tossed it and bought me a real Breitling. Copying is the concerest form of flattery. Even Shelby copies his own Cobras. I just think it's bad taste to represent it as the real thing.

In NYC I bought the best Rolex Sub replica I have ever seen. This thing weighed the same, looked the same, sweep acted the same, the bezel acted the same...holding both that and my friend's identical watch it was very very difficult for either of us to tell them apart. The black bezel piece came off and I threw it away. It was really convincing....I think I might have paid $120 for it at the time.

I bought 4 fake Breitlings in Afghanistan. The fake watch guy had the exact same watches with a Rolex logo. They were bought as sort of a joke, but they're just too blingy to wear anywhere, even goofing around. I'd give them away if any of you could get a good laugh out of one. Let me know if you want me to post a photo.

I have a fake (a tribute watch ;) )submariner I bought way back in med school. I now, since finances permit, have a variety of real rolexes too. The fake was sold to me by a fellow student, who used to go back home to asia for vacations and bring a couple watches with him. It is indistinguishable from the real thing. Fully automatic. I paid 400$ for it eon's ago. There are fakes, and then there are extremely high end replica's... Asia makes some amazing watches.... :)

I cant stand the trend of large face "bling" watches being sold to the 20 ish crown that now think they are all real. The fake Breitlings seem to be very popular and the ones that sport them have no idea what a true automatic watch is all about. I kinda laugh everytime I see one. Sad because I've wanted a Bentley Breitling for a while, but now wont really pursue it.

At the mall last night, I saw a store called "Hardcore Watch Co"...I couldnt imagine what was in there...

Can't find them in NYC like in the past sinse the crack down on fake products. I do see on the net that there are "replica's" going for a few hundred bucks . I remember getting a few in Hong Kong some years back but now they get taken by customs when you come back in. I got to admit the cost of the real stuff is out of hand. I just got my Rolex back from it's "cleaning" and it cost me $550. I guess that's the last time it will be cleaned. While at the jewlery store I was looking at a gold Rolex and the price was $20,000.

There is an insurance salesman in one of my buildings that has 5 Rolex replica's and they are all spot on perfect. One day at lunch we compared my sub to his and I just assumed it was an older model till he told me it was a fake. I seriously thought he was pulling my leg when saying it was a phony.

For whatever reason, I have lost interest in high end watches. I went to Vegas for a wedding a few months ago and it seemed like even the maids had Rolex's (replicas). There is no exclusivity left in that brand.
I could be that my ego is more in check and I don't feel the need. Not sure. Cars seem to be different, hard to replicate a 2008 S550 or an F430.

Does anyone else get this feeling?

I wont lie, I have two Breitlings, one real one fake. Real one I wear when I go out to to dinner or some where nice, fake one I wear day to day. Watch is so big it is easy to get scratched, real one sits on a winder, fake one have to reset almost every other day, but still, better than ****ing up the real one

    Yes.

I bought a steel Rolex datejust in 1991 and have never worn it much or had it full-serviced. It still keeps as good time as any of the several quartz "driver" watches I have.

Yeh, I like to browse the expensive watches online and at the mall, but buying another one or more seems futile. I might if I could sell the Rolex for a decent price, but finding a better basic high-quality watch would be difficult. Looks to me like above $5K, you're paying for a name, dials/gizmos, and a gold case, at a hugely marked-up price.

When it comes to Ferraris though, dropping three or five grand on proper service or upgrades doesn't bother me.

I've heard of people with the real deal buying a fake to knock around with. Watches get scratches very easily so I can see why they'd do it. Also if it ever got stolen. Still, seems kinda lame if you can afford the real thing.
