    Ok,

After 16 years....I have quit smoking!
    It's been 3 hours!! :D
JK, going on 3 weeks, not going back to it...
My daughter told me "daddy you stink."
    That was IT!
If anyone who smokes wants advise on how to quit, I have the solution! No meds, no BS, just brains!

    So, NOW WHAT?
Buy another car to reward myself? (that's what the wife says)
    Do I need a reward?

    Congrats!

Just don't go back to it and don't substitute a pack a day with a gallon of ice cream a day!

    Congrats mate!! :):)

I would reward myself with something small, as it has only been 3 weeks. :):)

When it has been a full year, then reward yourself with something really nice. :):)

Keep up the diet too mate. Pappy has hit the gym again, since last week and I have changed my diet dramatically also. ;);)

Baby VTC is as cute as ever!:eek:

Just passed my 10 year anniversary. Feb 2 1998 was my last smoke. Wifey still does.

Congrats and Yes, it get much easier. I remember when my nose recovered. I felt the need to apologize to everyone i had smoked around. It really does stink.

    Now what?
Calculate your savings - how much did smoking cost you. Use this to calculate how much of a monthly payment you can make to yourself. Maybe finance a toy, join a gym, start drinking...

You can also use the savings as financing for the rest of your life, so maybe $150/mo for 40 years yields about $67k, so get a '95 F355!

I'm into week two on the Nutrisystem diet. I figured pre-portioned food would be good for me. I've lost seven lbs. so far. I started the diet at 232.8. Goal weight is 180lbs.

Being seven lbs lighter, I already notice the difference sliding into the 355.

FYI...the 4th or 5th week can also be very difficult as your body starts with counter espionage. It's gonna try to show you that you were successful and deserve a smoke as your reward. Don't fall for it.

9 days marks 16 years for me (Ex 2 P.O.D. Marlboro Red smoker)

What you should be doing is running up stairs and remarking to yourself how you are NOT hyperventilating!

Keep it up man! It gets easier every day, trust me on this! Good luck! :):):):)

First; your Princess VTCette Cadette is absolutely adorable.

Second; check Craigslist & put "blows smoke" [without quotation marks returns a few more results] in the search box.

actually, $150/mo yeilds $67K in only 20 years using compound interest at a mere 6% :) 40 years yields $300K! :) buy you a nice F430 spider for that lovely daughter of yours to drive when she gets older!

Way to go Chris! I just turned 40, and I quit over 35 years ago. My habit was not that old, so quitting was a little easier in the early 70's! My trick was to take big drag after putting the cigarette in backwards, and lighting the filter... No urge to smoke after that moment. I'd give yourself a nice little gift at each milestone. 1 month, 1 year, 5 years. Make the gift progressive (and maybe a set of something that requires you to stick to it to get the whole set).
Cig's really stink, so I'm glad you decided to quit, it is better for everyone around you too!

Hmmmm, driving to work this morning I was thinking I should quit, my girlfriend’s uncle just passed away yesterday which has a strange ability to throw light onto subjects that have been hiding away.

Well done Chris, I think you deserve a reward, yes its early days, but from a current smoker, if I went 3 weeks without smoking at all, I would consider that to have quit. I think you should buy yourself a new pair of sunglasses, something that will suit driving your very clean 348. Then something more substantial after 6 months.

    Congrats mate!

    hahaha :D

Yeah, thought i would throw that in there and see how big your reward was going to be.

355 is the way to go mate, GTS, non red, 99, sounds like a perfect match for your 348.
