I am sure this will end up being Nationwide news---Just got home from work. Rt. 210 just over the Charles County line into PG County in front of the Beretta gun plant is where people have street raced for years. At least 8 people dead after racing incident gone really bad...Happened about 2 hours ago...As of right now, no news stations have reported anything, but the camera crews were starting to show up as I was leaving... Can't really say anymore than that for now....

Keep it on the track guys!!!

Tragic. I'm sure the local news will put out the story first.

That many people killed must have been either the cars were full of passengers or maybe spectators were hit.

Robbie, you have a tough job. I'm sure you see crash scenes like the rest of us can't even imagine.

The story was just on NBC4 but they didnt have any pics from the scene. They reported it as 6 dead from a tractor trailer accident. They didnt mention street racing yet, I guess still to early. And it is the same accident, reported to have happened around 3:45 at 210/Pine Dr by Beretta.

that is so tragic. As I've gotten older, I've stopped doing any stupid stuff on the street, but I remember being a kid and feeling invincible and doing stuff that was totally idiotic. I can only hope I do a better job getting my kids to understand the risks when they get to driving age....

Yea, 3 helicopters landed. Bad thing about this is all the time, we have responded to crashes like this but never fatals up there... People have been drag racing there for over 20 years....

I was clearing part time and headed up there, we had numerous units on the scene. Our agency got there quicker than PG and MSP. The call went out around 2am or so...

Was the person driving the white Crown Victoria a Law Enforcement Officer? Very sad.

I'd imagine that people standing in the middle of rt210 at 2am would be a bit unexpected, with or without the smoke.

Is this the reason for so many patrol cars around town these past a few days. I've been seeing so many police cars, it's crazy. I feel kinda safer honestly. Been getting great gas mileage too driving like a human rather a maniac.

    On the story, Sad..

Not sure why more officers are in your area lately, can't imagine it was because of this..

Lots of Blue Fairfax Police Cars on 28 (North / South), also near George Mason and loudoun county. P.S I think Fairfax county and Loudoun County's police car colors are the sexiest. White in Loudoun and Blue in Fairfax.

i don't know the whole story, but if you are going 60mph (5mph over the speed limit) on a dark road with no street lights, you may come up on some smoke pretty quickly. Happens all the time in fog.
