I finally started fitting the Euro spoiler I got from "thecarreaper". First thing I found out was that "Ferrari" and perfect fit are not one and the same. The grill opening was about 3/4" off and very hard to expand. I quickly fabricated a spoiler expander out of all-thread, emt tubing and some nuts (patent pending) to better align the upper body to the spoiler. I then marked the holes in the spoiler flange for drilling. I also checked the grill and driving light fits/clearances before reming the spoiler to drill it. Because I feel the spoiler will be under some stress upon final fastening I deceided to JB Weld fender washers to the spoiler flange for added re-inforcement - kind of like those white three ring binder hole tabs you put on paper. Next step will be to bolt it in and final fit the grill & bumper before going to paint.

This project has also expanded to include many other things while opened up. While I've had the spoiler off, I've also been cleaning up & re-painting the balck background frame components, heater blowers and ducts and also found the heater exchanger boxes full of road debris impacted against the fin coils. The original foam filters were totally rotted out.

Pictures of the work over the last month are attached.

    Bob,
great work and thanks for the pictures.
Do you have by any chance a picture of your grille while of the car? reason is that I bought a grille thinking it was for a Mondial 3.2 but it doesn't seem to fit a Mondial. Now I was thinking it could be of a 3X8.

Here are some heater system repairs pictures including new filters which I cut from a cheap furnace filter element. My shop vac took care of the debris in the exchanger. The ducts were soaked in TSP solution overnight, flushed clean and dried. They have minor pin holes I'll just ignore for now. The blower motors were caked with junk and the mounting tabs were cracking. Cleaning the red and black overspray from years of PO "BS" took me days of solvent rubbing. I used crazy glue to re-attach the black plastic mounting tabs and JB Weld to clad some sheetmetal pieces against the tabs to reinforce them at re-installation.
Everywhere I look, and on-going, are harness sleeves and exposed wires covered with paint overspray from PO's which I found cleans off best with MEK and/or Lacquer thinner and lots of rubbing. I want to be able to ID the wire colors if I have to diagnose future problems.

    Hi Jurgen,

My grill is different from other 308's in that it is cut off at the sides for the amber daytime flasher lights. Many US models have longer (wider) grills that fill in this space. Don't know much about Mondials. Send a picture of your grill and maybe I (or other Fchat's) can ID it.

Chris - the Bend-Pak lift (pictured) is from when I had the car in for the PPI last year. I'm still saving up for one myself but keep getting sidetracked with actual car repairs!

Nice job Bob! Did you end up selling the cow catcher to some track guy? I know LouGaudio is the total track junkie now, maybe he will pony up the cash for it!

I went the other direction and faced the same problems. I replaced the euro spoiler on my 84 with a US version ( I HATED that deep one - BIG time). It didn't match up at all.

It was some work to make it fit but we got it. Now the old Euro is sitting in the garage not scraping anything anymore
