TV coverage of similar event last November:

Below are photos by Rich Marsden of an event we did there a couple of years ago... the photos are from AFTER the kids and their families left and we kicked things up a notch. We hope to again be able to wet the skid-pad portion of the track for some extra play time at the end of the day.

No problem, Erik, you couldn't attend anyway... remember your post from 9/18/2006?

Though they obviously don't have to be a track car to give the kids rides around on the track (in the three times we've been doing this for charity, only one "track" car has attended -- the rest of us bring our "street" Ferraris) , it *is* an activity for current FCA members only. That's the only way to get your car into the Dunlop facility for these things, since we have to limit the number of participants.

You can write as many checks to as many charities as you want... but FCA isn't one of them. A 501(c)(7) not-for-profit car club social organization is very different than a 501(c)(3) charity.

Mike I'm confused. Are you trying to encourage new members to the club with your posts or not? I'm understanding again why I haven't renewed for some time.

Just responding to your specific "two charities" comment in kind. Consider it educational since you must have been mis-informed about what FCA is.

No, it was that I would have to write two checks to participate in the charity event coming up...

It was educational however. I don't have to waste any additional time looking at FCA events. Thanks for clearing that up.

Sorry, I must have misinterpreted it since you specifically said you're have to write "two checks to charity"... it sounded to me like that meant the same as "a check each to two charities".
In the past you've made it abundantly clear to me and others here that you'd already gotten to that point so I took that into consideration.
In this case, it was my pleasure -- really. ;) I'm much more interested in what we can do for those kids and their families than I am in trying to "sell" the benefits of FCA to someone who has again made it clear that FCA isn't for them (and perhaps vice versa).

Hey Mike - see if there's any possibility to have a TV set up to show qualifying for the Canadian GP (noon to 1:30pm)...

Sorry I didn't return your call -- I've been unavailable since yesterday afternoon.

There are three of us who are local - sure, sounds good to me at least, and I'll check with Lee and Danny. If you prefer, instead of a sit-down dinner, we could hang out at my house for a couple of hours if you'd like and I'll just order pizzas.

What a GREAT time we had! Thanks again to Danny Roberts and Dunlop for hosting us.

Thanks also to David McFerrin of WHNT-TV for spending the day with us and taking video. The TV station put a 1-minute teaser on their 6:00 news tonight. Time permitting, there will be an expanded version on the 10pm news.

If you point your internet browser to this link you can see a streaming version of what they showed at 6pm.

The reporter included a few exagerations about the top speed and cost of the cars... :p

That's Tommy Cosgrove's black 308 spinning on the wet skid-pad!
