Some 'Idiot' will come along and buy it, sit on it for 10 years without driving it, and sell it for triple what he paid for it! There's always another idiot out there; or maybe it's one of us??
At that price they are ahead of the curve but that will be the going price one of these days....no doubt about it. Certainly an expensive 800+ miles....with the cost of the rebuild. Brian
At a first glance it would have said: "Typical garage queen" but seems that somebody invested already a huge amount to overhoul it. Anyway the price is far from realistic... this overhoul would maximum cost $30k, so it about $50k too much copared to other S2's. 1981 LAMBORGHINI COUNTACH SERIES 2 LP400S WITH ONLY 893 1 OWNER CERTIFIED MILES SINCE NEW AND HAS JUST UNDERGONE A COMPLETE OVERHAUL BY ONE OF THE BEST TECHS IN THE INDUSTRY, FINISHED IN BLACK EXTERIOR OVER LIPSTICK RED INTERIOR THIS PUPPY JUST HAD A FULL ENGINE OUT REBUILD WITH ANY AND ALL UPDATES COMPLETED, ALL NEW HOSES, BELTS, WEBBER CARB REBUILDS, FUEL PUMPS...
An 800 mile car with a incorrect 5000S style replaced dash = no longer original. You prove how great it is by leaving it alone. My 10,000 mile 79' still has the original mouse hair dash. PS: Guess what everyone... it's an S3! NOT AN S2. So much for thinking he had something special. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Whoa there Tony!! They're all special................................................................................................. .....................................................................................just some more than others
Oh I know.... By "special" I meant that he had an ALL ORIGINAL 800 mile Lowbody. That is what he is advertising, but that's not what it is.
LOL 259k$ ... even in Europe would still be too expensive at 156k euro and it is not a low body car.... just look at side pics
Yes by looking at it.... and the VIN# 1121376 is for sure without question an S3. My first Countach was an S3 and it was #1121328.
Brian, I think the false advertising got you. If it was a 800 mile Lowbody then yes "one of these days" it could be worth $250K But it's a S3 Highbody... with the smaller 40mm carbs.
Or a "complete rebuild" seals, hoses & rebuilt brake system perhaps. I suppose someone could call "Shenanigans" and ask for some proof that the mileage is as stated (33 miles per year, WTF!)
Could I get a group opinion here... Look at the factory cast color on my cylinder heads with 10,000 miles, compared to the heads on this 800 mile car. ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any guesses as to why the VIN (1121376) does not show up on the registry? http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Countach/CountachLP400S/LP400SRegistry.html
Oh I see, thanks. Since there are so few cars, I thought the registry just listed every VIN and posted info/photos when they had some. I wonder who submits the VIN's that have no information next to them? Mine for example, 1121252.
I think I solved the mistery: it was 800 miles in reverse, other direction was around 80.000 or after "restauration" and putting the clock back to zero it made 800 miles... There is just no sign or proof in any way its a 800 mile car! look at that engine, it should be NEW with only 800 miles! the interior, the "restored" dash... tyres..emblem... crazy price for an S3!
Hard to believe that is an 800 mile car with the hood repainted, maybe more. Even if it is it is not "un-mollested". Nice car though. I know 800 mile Countachs btw!
