These cars were not part of the auction, but part of the showroom at the Barrett Jackson auction today in Las Vegas. There were hundreds of cars but I made a point to walk by these beauties numerous times to drool... One day I will own a Lusso, one day... :)

My apologies for the blurry pictures, I was trying not to use a flash but at a 1/8 shutter speed and finding the time to take a clear picture between all the people walking by and around the cars they did not come out the best. I will try to sharpen them up in photoshop later.

I have High Res if you want, I can zip them up and email them.

    Regards,
    Charlie

I'm curious why they didn't put the cars into the auction? Is it because they know that the auction bubble is beginning to, or has burst. Since they auction the cars off without reserves, If I had a car for auction, I would really be worried about getting the price I wanted. I watched a few minutes and the cars were going for a lot less than the Scottsdale auction in January.

The prices today were terrible, it was actually painful to watch some of the sellers' expressions. I know the economy is bad, but wow, some of these people were getting GREAT buys on american and european classics. Sad day for the value of collector cars.

I reckon those prices won't look like great buys a couple of months from now.

In the current market, I think the Lusso is overpriced. It's roughly the same price as the one that sold in Maranello in May, which was an exemplary specimen in a buoyant market. But this one also does look like a nice specimen.

two lovely fantastic autos that are destined to be 'worth' a lot LESS in coming months/years. They will NOT sell at those prices, but they sure look great!

I think, in today's market, both of those cars are waaay over priced. I'm sure that's why they weren't in the auction.

That said, I love them both!

I think the real reason is that the BJ people have gone to a No Reserve auction format over the last few years to attract more buyers. Overall it has worked for them, but they have had a few unhappy sellers along the way. In this ecomonic climate I am sure that selling those Lussos at no reserve would have been quite risky.

Sad day? I'm not sure what you were watching. Yes, there was some good buys, but there were numerous cars that broke the bank as well. The 55-57 Chevys, T-Birds and numerous well done restomods brought strong money. The Kennedy 62 Continental brought unbelievable dough. And Shelby's MG also brought strong money for an MG.

Cornelis: Ok, you are now posting something interesting. Something we can learn from. I have always been courious about these door rubbers myself. Did they use them throughout the entire production of the 275gtb? Restoring cars is a learning process for everyone. Many small details changed throughout the 275gtb line. Thank you for taking the time to post the photos. p.s. That blue lusso got the same "California" treatment as the blue 275 4 cam. Could be the best lusso in the world. If I had the money I would buy it.

    p.s.s. I don't think Mr. Ottis is a f-chatter.

talking will be much easy when you dont need a pseudo
About the door rubbers i cannot give any aswer. for years in Dusseldorf one GTB drove with these rubbers
i work on the cars as good i can but functionality and reliability are more important to me
I am merly interested it the mech. side of the cars not the deatails i look at old fotos and try to reach the same result
if the bolts are red white or blue is not important .

I could be wrong but I don't think Mr. Ottis has a computer! It could be someone who works with him tho'.

And what's your problem with Mr. Ottis? You've questioned him in two threads now and with only 26 posts that's an interesting percentage.

If you read the sales card closely, you'll notice that Mr. Ottis did the mechanicals on the Lusso, it says nothing of the restoration. He may very well have done it, but the card does not claim it. On the 275, it appears that the car was restored in the UK.

Some of the restomods did bring strong dough, especially that hideous example of a Rolls Royce on air bags and chrome wheels (puke!), but in my opinion there were a ton of cars way under the money. Off the top of my head I can remember that custom dark green Impala that went for 60k, it was immaculate. Then there were all of the mustangs, Shelby 350's, 500's, and the BOSS's were all way under the money, back in January at Scottsdale those BOSS 429's with matching numbers were bringing 3-500k. There was a perfect white Jag E-type that brought something like 70k, but 9 months ago would have commanded at least 150k. Then there were the exotics with the Jag Xj220 coming in at 120k, which is easily a 250k car, and the brand new Saleen S7 Twin Turbo that went for 285K! I couldn't believe the deal that guy got when the non-twin turbo models sell used for 325k+!

There were a ton more, I know the guy selling the 1918 Bastilli (spelling?) Speedster was extremely upset with his 160k and the auction organizers worked the crap out of Shelby's MG thinking it was going to bring way more than it did.

Also I wasn't there on Thursday or Friday but speaking to some of the buyers there they said some of the best deals they had ever seen on matching number cars happened on Thursday, can't speak for examples though.

Some cars did bring money, like you said, but for every car that brought strong money I feel like there were at least 2 more that everyone was looking around at each other wondering what happened. Seemed like there were only a few bidder wars, and like everyone at an auction knows, it takes 2 bidders to make money. Seemed that a lot of the cars were missing that.

Anyway, thats just my opinion, I am by no means an expert on the value in classics or collector cars, but if you were to compare the auction list selling prices from Scottsdale in January to this auction here this weekend, I'd think you could consider many of the cars "good buys" this weekend.

There is not exif data on your pictures. What was the aperture you were shooting at? ISO Speed? I would think that with those lights you can shoot without flash at less that 1/8" shutter.

These photos were resized and lost the exif data. I didn't bring my SLR, just an older point and shoot, but was using the Auto mode with no flash that usually has decent results. There were too many people walking around to take a lot of time to line up shots. The F was between 2.8 and 4, and the shutter speeds varied between 1/8 (interior) and 1/30 (exterior) shots. Not sure what the camera was putting the ISO at, was just set on dummy auto. Had I gotten to the auction on Thursday I would have brought my DSLR because there wasnt such a mob of people.

Seems that anything with a C. Shelby Provenance will still bring big money. (In that they are sold with proceeds going to his charity are there deductions for the buyer?) Glitz is still selling but IMO those buyers aren't poster boys for good judgement to begin with. The half empty hall said it all.

The Saleen was a 9000 mile car, not a low mileage example + they been in the toilet for a few years now, as they tend to give some owners problems. As far the Jaguar xj220 it actually brought closer to $150K not $120. These Jags are not very desirable to the masses (6 cyl twin turbo with a very ugly interior), especially to the type of crowd that Barrett Jackson attracts.
