Please PM me if you are looking to sell a pre-250 coupe or berlinetta (e.g. 212, 195, 166 or Lampredi). Vignale preferred. For example, # 0128E would be ideal if 275gtb6c/Oscar is getting tired of the small cockpit and crash box.

This will be for my own collection, almost forty years after I came to know such cars at Kirk White’s garage. Cash transaction. For the right car I am prepared to move promptly, although the Gstaad results unambiguously (and unsurprisingly) suggest that prices are going nowhere but down - happy to catch the falling knife, if I can dine well with it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Coldwater,

always good to hear people are interested in your (or similar) cars. Before buying one take your time and know what you want. For instance an even numbered car is (much) more expensive than an Inter or 195 but will give a better chance for the MM and are rarer. Driving these old bangers is really great and easier than you might think. Mainenance could be expensive as parts are hard to source, but mechanics are very similar to later cars.

I know a few Inters that could be for sale. I am aiming for the MM 2009 so before this count me out. The cars are traded mainly from collector to collector. I have been asked quite some times to sell, but you never know how serious people are as I never considered it yet. The 212 Export at Gstaad was a very nice (but open) car. I do not know the history of this one. Getting a no story car (as 128E really is) is hard as 60 years is lot to get no accidents/motor change or owners hiatus.

I will be pleased to help you any further.

    ciao
    Oscar

I assume you are aware of fantastic 0096E at Mario Bernardi, as well as a 225 Export Vignale and a 212 (PF).

Thanks very much for the kind replies.

Oscar, I cannot claim a fraction of the knowledge of many on this board, but I have known for nearly forty years what I want. I read Tanner cover-to-cover at the same time that I was a schoolboy loitering in wonder at Kirk F. White's, and this would not be the first older Ferrari under my care. An even number would be preferred, but like you it is beauty that will empty my wallet.

Your other insights are greatly appreciated. I had anticipated that these cars are quietly traded, so it seemed efficient to use this excellent forum to make people like yourself aware of my interest as a long-time enthusiast. I would be very grateful if you would spread the word, and I would be pleased to introduce myself further through PMs. Perhaps we might speak seriously ourselves after the MM 2009. Given the limited number of cars meeting even my general criteria, it would surprise me if my search concluded much before then.

Roger, I was informed by Mario Bernardi that the first two cars you mention have been sold. With the third, it seems that the ghost of Ingrid Bergman is worth quite a lot, but unfortunately it cannot be separated from the car itself.

    Again thanks and best regards,

    Don
