Parked on the street looking great.
This is not quite a 959. Last summer I saw this car parked on the street in Aspen. The owner came up to me while I was photographing it and we began talking. He told me it was actually a 964 (911) with a legitimate 959 body from Porsche. He told me he had considered a real 959 but said he would feel guilty about modifying it; he seemed fanatical about making it more authentic, though, as he mentioned he was looking for original 959 interior switches! He also mentioned the "964 959" (as I've called it since) has over 600 horsepower. After I mentioned that I worked at Ferrari of Denver, the owner, who told me he also owns a (real) Lamborghini Countach and Diablo, felt comfortable enough with me that he gave me a ride in the car on some twisty roads around Aspen. Let's just say I believe every bit of that 600 horsepower figure. Photos attached. The only 959 I know of in Colorado is the red one in the Colorado Springs area. Good to hear - I thought the sole weak point of the car was the 996 wheels. You'd think he'd go for stock 959 wheels, considering how much he wanted the car to look the part, but I'd imagine they're not easy to find. Enjoy Aspen, Jim!
Well, considering the varying skill of the drivers here, its not quite a 'town car', but the crazy thing is that when its in town its parked over night on the street a couple of blocks from us ( makes you wonder what's in the garage!). Scary because last year a city plow totaled our our tow van parked on the street and didn't even slow down!
If this is the same car, which I think it is, it was for sale about a year ago. I took a look at it and have to say it was an excellent replica and a lot of fun for a relatively low asking price (under $25K IIRC).
Isn't this one Napolis saw? http://www.car-parazzi.com/display/index.cfm?display=ItemDetail&media_id=42137
You can find them, but they retail for close to $20K for the set. A friend of mine use to drive his 959 from Paris to his house in Chamonix. He considered buying a second set of wheels to mount snow tires on and leaving them at a gas station on the route, where he would stop along the way and swap them out just to use when skiing. When he got the price he decided they were to expensive to leave in the gas station 11 1/2 months of the year.
There's a red 959 Komfort with 22K miles(same one from Porsche Parade 2009) that's for sale in Colorado right now for $439K. Hopefully it can stay in Colorado...
Same here. Saw it once. I believe the cars lives in the Manitou area. Along with a very large Porsche collection. Ive been told theres also a GT1 in this collection, as well as a few perfect condition 356s and many more.
