TMS Laps for Charity - Sat 05/09/09

It's that time of year again. Time for the Laps for Charity event at Texas Motor Speedway. This time it takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 5 to 10 pm. Car Club reservations can be made if there is enough interest, say maybe 12 to 15 cars (the specific time for car clubs is between 5 to 7pm) and they open it up to the general public from 7 to 10pm. The cost is $30 and that gets you 3 laps (you can purchase more laps and get a picture taken for $10)

For anyone that still wants to do this, I'll be meeting another group at the Shell station at the SE corner of 114 & 35W at 7:00pm & depart from there at 7:15.. If I'd known about this sooner, we might have had a chance to run a bit earlier as a club but those spots filled up fast. Instead I'll be driving the general public time from 7pm to 10pm. I'll be in the black Mini Cooper S.

 

Finally glad to get my Mini out to an event regardless of the weather conditions, remember it was for a good cause. The pace vehicles were limiting our group from 55 to 72 due to wet conditions, after this have a whole new respect for NASCAR / IRL drivers running three wide on a banked turn.
