    Hello everyone!

Obviously, most of you here know me for my hobby and passion, "car spotting," or seeing exotic cars on the road. As of a recent count done in the Atlanta Spotters' Thread, I have now seen 1,013 cars nearly 2,300 times. Since starting this hobby in mid-2005, I've had a sighting used in the UK's Car magazine, and was featured in a four-page article in the July 2009 issue of Automobile Magazine, one of the "big four" U.S. auto magazines. With a connection made on Ferrari Chat I was even able to secure a job at Ferrari of Denver last summer, allowing me to drive literally dozens of Ferraris (and Bentleys, Porsches, Maseratis, and Lotuses) hundreds of miles, and even ride in an Enzo at full throttle. Through this hobby I've met dozens of Ferrari owners, many who gave or offered me rides in their cars. I even met Ralph Lauren. I've seen a Bugatti Veyron, a Maserati MC12, a Ferrari Enzo, multiple Lamborghini Countachs, Teslas, Mercedes SLRs, and Porsche Carrera GTs. Looking back, it's been truly amazing.

Unfortunately, the day has come where I must devote my time elsewhere. I return home to Colorado on Tuesday for a few weeks, and when I come back, time will be a lot more elusive. Through connections made during car spotting, I was offered a great car-related job which I have accepted and will be starting when I return to Atlanta in late August. I will be working full days in that job when I'm not in class (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday). Additionally, I am going into my senior year of college and will have classes all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Between these things and managing my schoolwork and relatively demanding social life, it is time to take a bit of a sabbatical from car spotting. I will certainly try to get up to Buckhead at least once or twice a week, but looking at my schedule it appears that might not be possible sometimes. Thus, July, which was by far my best month ever for car spotting with 222 sightings, might also be my last "big" month ever.

For those of you who have met me, encouraged me, and given me rides, thank you! I believe at this point I have spotted the car(s) of nearly ever F-chatter in Atlanta. Thanks especially to ZonderF, whose tips have led me to countless cars I wouldn't have seen on my own. I will try to remain active on Ferrari Chat as I think I bring an interesting perspctive - someone who both obsessively spots them, and has had time behind the wheel of every model since the Dino (except of course the supercars).

Chronicled below are my "greatest hits" - some of the best sightings I had had over the years. Enjoy!

    -Doug

    Doug,

Your postings will be missed. Amazing that you have been able to find time for this while an Emory student. I am an Emory grad too. It has been a while. They had "Wonderful Wednesdays" for a few years. Classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Interesting that you can get all the classwork done two days per week.

I was a car nut at Emory too. Before the days of digital cameras and the internet which I suppose made spotting possible. Also, I think there were far fewer "exotic" cars being driven around so much. Less to see. If we saw a 275 Ferrari or Lamborghini Miura on the street, it was a major event. Still is I suppose.

Anyway, good luck with your new job and senior year at Emory.

    Jack

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I hope to still take the occasional exotic car photo on the rare occasions when I have time, so hopefully I won't be gone for good. :)

Doug it's been awesome seeing your pics. Haven't seen anybody put as much work into spotting as you. Did an excellent job through the years. Congrats Doug I think you can go down as one of the greatest spotters ever. Good luck and have fun with the new job :)
