Dr. K and I loaded up Dino #05082 and got ready to depart when Marco called and finally decided to attend at the last minute. Great! We've got a Dino caravan to Mecca. here are a few shots from the trip. The artsy ones are from Dr. K who is originally from CA so its in his blood and I thought they turned out well.

We stopped off in the wine country and visited J. Edgar Hoover's special restaurant, The CIA - Culinary Institute of America. Its built in an old monastery and the lighting is just great. It was a hot day so we stayed inside and tried their "temptations" array before concluding the day with full course meals. The Dino needed a break after loading that much weight in it - LOL!

Back on the road we dawdled and rambled as if we didn't need maps. Hit some scenic spots along the coast and took these photos. As we travelled South of Half Moon Bay, we kept seeing Fire trucks going the other way. Then the CHP had stopped their cars to block off every road up the hill and finally we stumbled on the Bonny Doon fire site. There were many fire trucks, CHP and news crew vans everywhere so we had to slow to a crawl. At that point I heard a high pitched hissing sound to my right and went through my mental checklist on the Dino; nothing I could identify...and then a helicopter landed 50 yards to my right.

Once in Monterey we met up with more friends and started the weekend!

A veritable "Dynamic Duo," Scott! Great shots of what must have been a fun time. Let me know if you are still interested in those shots of my "transformer" backup light assembly made from a Subaru bumper bracket. Fred

Note the red tag in the windshield on the driver's side. It was for La Dolce Vita - that year's competitor to the Concorso. Relatively sparsely attended that year, but on a much more convenient and better site - a site to be used again in the near future!

Also, it was a minor miracle that she didn't spill her wine in/on my Dino!!

He is the only winemaker I know that calls his wine "Kick Ass wine",
followed by loud claims of "I make Kick Ass wine".
Shortly after that he asked for a ride in your Dino and you drove him 50 paces forward and he thanked you for the ride.
    LOL
