Gotta say seeing the live photos from Frankfurt and Fiorano anything else but Black (looks fantastic below) is completely wrong as the front end is otherwise seriously out of place

That's so funny because everyone said the exact same thing with the sharknose of the F430.

I think the front LEDs kill the whole look of the car, sorry not really my cup of tea.

Does nothing for me. I think the 430 is better looking and I dont love the 430. Just makes me want a CS even more.

    +1 CS is pretty perfect...
I want to see the 458 in person before I decide if I like it or not but from the photos Ive seen it looks good.
Smooth curves look better to me then sharp angles.IMHO

+1. Glad Im not the only one thinking about that. It looks like a Gecko from the front to be honest. The interior isnt a smash hit either, doesnt look as roomy and is too busy and fiddly.

Like many others on here, I'm not a huge fan of the front end (but I will reserve the final judgment when I see this car in the flesh/metal).

It seems that darker colors compliment (hide?) the 458's unusual front styling.

IMO, darker colors do the same for the 430's large oval front air intakes...which now look better to me after seeing the 458's mug.

I think ALL Ferrari's look cool in Black, but the 458 REALLY looks in proportion in Black.....

As I have said before, I LOVE IT, I can't wait to drive it. When it comes to modern Ferrari's it's ALL about how I feel behind the wheel. The Ferrari's of the 50's and 60's always be more beautiful to me in terms of pure style and elegance.
I just so happen to think that the 430 is a killer design but the 458 takes it to a whole new level like it or not. Is it a classic design that will be an iconic image of Ferrari's like the 328 or TR....I dunno? Time will tell? The 355 only gets better looking and more classic to me every year, when it came out I didn't care for it, now they turn my head.

My point is that I love the 430 but the 458 is pure lust.

The exposed and extended headlights is a common theme among new cars now. Headlights as a part of design seems like a trend that will come and go.

In the photo above, the front reminds me of (forgive me) the Olds based Shelby that flopped about 10 years ago. This particular angle seems unflattering to me regardless of color.

Based upon the views expressed on FerrariChat upon the unveiling of the new model, Ferrari has announced a styling change for the 2011 458....Ferrari designers are going "all in" and plan to give the 458 the back end of the California ;-D

I really dont like the front of this car. From the videos posted on Ferraris website it looks like the front bonnet is open. The lines just don't look right at the meeting point with the headlights.

    I love it.

A supercar should look flashy and different.

^ I was going to say Batmobile interior. Pretty sci-fi IMO.

btw: Yeah, aestheticly the 360/CS is hard to beat. The 458 at least is a contender.

I clearly remember when the 430 came out, everyone was pissed off about the front, said they perfer the 360. Now all of a sudden the 458 front looks like crap and now everyone perfers the 430. Give it some time you all will be convinced its one of the best looking Ferrari ever. Especially for you old guys.

it's par for the course:) remember when the 550 Maranello came out? it was heavily bashed for looking too 'derivative' and too much like a Supra... and now, it's apparently 'classic gt', elegant... time does change perspectives...good and bad..

these were the same people who also criticized the 360 when it came out.

I actually thought the 360's front was really ugly from the getgo, still do. Looks like an oxen yoke. I think the 430's front was a big improvement. I'll wait to see the 458 in person before making a final judgement but the bonnet looks oversized and upside down in some pics. In others, it appears to blend nicely. BTW, I'm getting pretty old.

I remember this as well. Ah well, just one less person ahead of you in line then!

I've fallen in love with the looks to be honest. There's the overall shape of the car which draws from some of the most beautiful shapes in the world, and then there are the minor details of the car, like the headlights people find ridiculous, and the vents in front, and underneath them.

My bets is that 99 percent of people will forget all the pictures they've ever seen of this car, and will fall in love with it when they see it in person.
