My simple suspension bushing replacement project on the 328 has taken on a life of its own and I’m having a blast taking things apart and putting them back together (See post #13 for photos of the rear being put back together http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139013490#post139013490). I’ve moved onto the front now. While waiting for the A-arms to get back from media blasting, I took the front hubs apart, cleaned everything up and am getting ready to put it back together with new bearings. Many thanks go out to Ernie for his write up on replacing the front bearings on his 348. His step by step instructions made my project so easy (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241309) It turns out that the early 348s use the same front wheel bearings as the 328. I was able to source the SNR bearings from Findballbearings.com for $190/each. (SNR TGB10894S03). They also carry the equivalent SKF bearings (SKF 441696M) for $300/each. Finally, for the question . . . the bearings came pregreased, however, it seems that there’s less grease on them compared to the originals that I pulled out (I’ve included some photos for reference). Can any of the wheel bearing experts tell me if the new bearings should be packed with additional grease and if so, do I need to clean them off first to avoid incompatibilities between wheel bearing grease (I had planned on using Mobil 1 synthetic wheel grease). Also, can anyone confirm the torque on the front hub center nut? The WSM states 115ft/lbs for M20 x 1.25. I’ve seen others quote much higher values for the same nut. Thanks again to Ernie and to everyone on the board for their help.

Generally speaking, such parts come "lubed" only to prevent corrosion during storage. The amount of grease / oil used is minimal and often of a low quality (for cost reasons) as well. It's always a good practice to wash out all the pre-supplied grease and FULLY pack with your own preference --- regardless of compatibility concerns.

Could you please verify that this is the correct website for the SNR bearings? That URL appears to be invalid.

    Thanks,
    David

My appologies David, the website is: locateballbearings.com, not "findballbearings.com." I worked with a very helpful gentleman named Mark. they are located somewhere in california. The number is 1800 409 3632
