1989 328. Is it attached to the oil filter mount? Is this an expensive part to replace?

Seems to be part #32, "transmitter" then on this diagram:

    http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?M=FE&P=&V=diag&I=2469

    Showing as this:

$444? wow. Wonder if a cross over part exists. Not sure I need one anyway, just had some concerns it's not reading correctly as my oil pressure seems to be a bit lower than before. If it was cheap enough, was going to replace, at this price, makes no sense to do that. Is there a way to test this unit to see if it works properly? I guess one way is to manually check the pressure, where best to do that?

Pricing is wrong on the website. It should be <$100. I'll check when I get into the office on Monday.

I replaced mine last year on my 308 QV. The Ricambi link shows this part is the same as on the 328. Bought one from Eurospares part # 122592 "Transmitter" it was GBP31.90

    Works perfectly now

This litle itemcan be on there tight. And it is tough to get a wrench in there, so you might consider unbolting the filter adaptor to really get a wrench on the hex fitting. DO NOT be tempted to use chanel locks on the outside of the sender housing, it will likely spin the outter portion of the housing where it is crimped, possibly wrecking the unit. Use a wrench.

So not use teflon on the threads, it may introduce bits of white that may go through the oil system - not good. Use a sealant back on the threads a bit.

Yes, I looked at mine with thoughts of changing the sender unit.

Looks like project creep, with changing oil cooler lines probably a good idea also, as one line needs to be disconnected to get the filter boss off.

I am still looking for one item that can be changed on this car without having to disassemble half the motor.

    Ah, Ha! The radiator cap!
