Another season is about to start in 2 weeks at MSR Houston. 430 Challenge cars race in Super Touring 1, 360 Challenge cars race in Super Touring 1 on slicks or Super Touring 2 on DOT R's, 355 Challenge in Super Touring 2 on slicks or Super Touring 3 on DOT R's, and 348 Challenge cars in Super Touring 3. 360 and 430 GT/C type cars are also eligible to race with NASA, most likely classed Super Touring Unlimited.

NASA has regions across the country for qualified amateur racers. Entry fees typically $300-400 a weekend and several companies offer contingencies like free tires. In the Texas region we have a nice concentration of Ferraris that compete against the best Detroit and Germany have to offer.

So far list of Ferrari racers for 2010 NASA Texas include...

    Mark McKenzie (355 C and 430 C) - 2009 North American Ferrari Challenge champion.
Steve Hill (430 C) - 2009 North American Ferrari Challenge rookie of the year.
    Jessica Hill (360 C)
David Cook (430 C) - longtime Ferrari Challenge participant.
Colin Cohen (355 C) - experienced Grand Am racer.
    Rob Lay (355 C) - 2009 NASA Texas ST2 runner-up & 2 time SCCA Runoffs Top 10

If Texas isn't your region, more information about racing Ferraris in North America can be found at http://www.nasaproracing.com/.

    NASA Texas 2010 Calendar: http://www.nasatxracing.com/events.php

    Super Touring Home Website: http://www.supertouringracing.com.

If you don't race your Ferrari, you aren't a Ferrari racer. If you don't track your Ferrari then your Ferrari race car is just for show.

    Texas!
Great. Looking forward to it. Will any of you be there for test and tune on Friday? Plus, the web sites didn't have a time schedule for Sat/Sun (or at least I couldn't find one). Do you know the times?

Cool deal they will be at MSRH at the end of the month. Rob I contacted MSRH concerning spectator fee's and they charge none but were unsure if/what NASA charges so do you have this infoconcerning the prices?

not off hand, but if there is a gate fee at all, it shouldn't be more than $10-20.

The three 430s Rob listed should all be there Friday, we're all trying some Steel brakes that should drastically improve the $:Lap ratio of a 430!!! I'm planning to run a little bit after 2:00 on Friday.

On Saturday, for our group, I think they'll have a morning practice, then qualy, a race around noon, and one more race late inthe day??

    Should be a fun weekend.

I'll be there as well, including a full day of Test & Tune on Friday - but in a Porsche! Will be running in GTS-4 for this first event (pic below) but will still do some GTS-3 in the old car (the white/red 911 #90 in Rob's pics) as well. The new car will also be wearing #90 by the time I get to Houston.

    Very cool car Rob!

Could you also run it in ST2? Its practically a 6Cup, right?

I'll pepper you with questions Friday. See you then,

It would class as ST2 but I'll always run it in GTS. It's a 996 with the wet sump X51 power package making 307 rwhp. Everything else is 6CUP - brakes, suspension, body work, etc. Even the hood pins and steering wheel release are Cup parts. I call it my Baby Cup. :)

    See you Friday!

307 rwhp and I think I am going to weigh somewhere around 2875. My min weight is 2767 and since I know I am easily over that I have not put the car on the scales since my last round of weight reduction. Ratio should be around 9.4 versus my ideal ratio of 9.0.

Running 250/285 Hoosier slicks. I've got 3 cars in class so a couple of wins this weekend should yield a fresh set of stickers. :)

Long trip down with the thunderstorms. By the time we had lunch and got back track was drying for practice. Had a couple sessions, wow was I really rusty after no track time since October and not running MSR-Houston in 3 years. The car ran great though and weather looks fastly cool and sunny this weekend.

5 Ferraris lined up for tech today...

I'll post full results, stories, and even some GREAT video later today. Was an awesome weekend although miserably cold standing out in the open all day.

Blows my mind the entire city of Houston wasn't out there to watch Ferraris, Porsches, Vipers, and Vettes door to door hard enough everyone was willing to write their car off for the win. Our group had 35 cars in it and a few times I think all tried to take one corner at same time. :) Good times.

I hope that includes the end of lap one and the first few turns of lap 2 in race 3 since you and I were mostly side by side there. My camera didn't catch much of you except for the part where you motored by and checked out.

    Most definitely.
