I recently purchased an 84 Mondial Cabriolet. Odometer shows 25K miles...seems low but it does look and sound tight, so it's possible it's right....my mechanic thinks it is a low milage car.

It had a few issues: lights didn't pop up, 16 year old metric tires, very low engine power and original belts...

Found 348 wheels on eBay and had major service done (Cavallo Motorsports - great work). The power issue turned out to be bad ignition wires, and the headlights had a bad connection at the switch. So all in all it now runs like it was intended to. A great fun car (I've put about 900 miles on it in the last 3 weeks!).

Very nice. The more I see Mondials, the more I like 'em.

That beautiful black paint brings all the body elements (bumpers) into one flowing mass.

    She's beautiful. Congrats :)

    Thanks!

I do think they are lovely cars, especially in black. The interior was redone in Conolly leather a few years ago and is immaculate (pictures don't do it justice). Lots of fun to drive once you get used to it...not a fast take-off car but handles so well at (relatively) high speed

I personally like chrome wheels - but I see they aren't very popular on Ferraris...I guess it's just in my blood...=)

Congrats on the purchase... I've got an '88 cab in black and tan, but the leather is not nearly as nice as yours. Seeing your pictures makes me think twice about the price of a re-skinning... looks great!

It's funny you mentioned your ignition wire problem. I had the same issue. The previous owner had a major done, but cheaped out on the wires, giving me an engine with a rolling miss. After putting on factory wires ($$$), she's as good as new. I took her on an 800 mile road trip the next weekend, top down through the AZ desert out to the CA coast. Ain't these cars a gas?

I'm putting 355 wheels on my mondi and have been considering a paint / chrome job on 'em. Your chrome job looks stunning. Thanks for sharing.

Nice! Black is the only way to go with a mondial. Like above, it blends in all the "bits" that people don't really like. Not too sure about the chrome wheels... a little too "bling" for me.

I agree with Ace about the color. Black Mondial cabs are beautiful. I think the cars understated design benefits from the chrome wheels.
    Enjoy!
