I had a great time yesterday giving rides in our LP 560-4 Spyder. It was great to meet several of the other guys there as well! Aside from the heat, we had a great time and it sure looked like it was raising some pretty good money which certainly makes it all worth it. Pretty good turn out too. Aside from our Lamborghini, there was a California (thanks for showing me the course when I arrived!), 16M, a couple 430 Scuderias, Challenge Stradale, 360 Spider, 355 F1 Berlinetta, 512TR, Jaguar E-Type, 911, Ford GT Twin Turboed, Z06, 427 Cobra (that burned a guys leg as he got out!), SLR Roadster, MB E63(?), a couple Lotus Elises, an Exige S, an early Viper, a couple late model Vipers, and I'm sure a few more I'm forgetting. The 427 Cobra definitely gets the award for being the loudest car there. That's all I could hear as I tried to fall asleep last night! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a great time out there as well. My brother and I were giving rides in the FGT-TT and cammed Z06, and my 1970 Mercury Cyclone won 3rd place in the Restomod class! Thanks to all that came out....it was a blast, and Shriners Hospital is a great cause!
Hey Randy That was my Cali, and my hubby, Paul, who showed you the course! He was rather embarrassed after he saw you drive it in that Lambo! We're off to Harris Hill for some driving lessons so we do better next year! It was a lot of fun, but v HOT! Feels good to have helped the hospital and everyone there was very nice and welcoming...
Hi, Jennifer! Tell Paul Thank You very much! He was very kind to show me around the track for a couple laps. He said you daily drive the California and even drop the kids off at school in it. That's fantastic! Love the TDF Blue too! I was also excited as it was my first ride in a Cali. That dual clutch transmission is great. You can barely feel it shift. The Lamborghini sure was a whole lot of fun too!
I do love that dual clutch! And until that day I didn't really appreciate Lambos, always preferring a prancing horse to a raging bull, but that LP 560-4 Spyder (is there a nickname for it?) looked amazing going around the track and was our ticket back to Austin as you quickly became the hit of the day and we felt comfortable leaving early for the ride home. Glad you enjoyed the Cali - it's such a perfect car for me with the extra seats and hardtop, but I did get a new thrill seeing those "racier" cars make mincemeat of that track...
It was a great show, and watching the cars on the autocross course was a blast. Especially when the 996 GT3 took out a few cones............and then kept on pushing as hard as he could.
The C63 was really whipped around the track by Michael Mills. He was kicking the tail out on almost all the corner exits. The Cobra seemed wicked fast too.
Yes, that was an exciting moment! Then, Richard took a few out and finally by the end I didn't mind so much when I did! But off to H2R next Sunday for some lessons from Bo so I can tell understeer from oversteer and know what to do when it happens again!
nice event, I will make it a must next year Personally I was looking at the show cars for the most part.... Anyone esle notice best of show? Best in show was that 450s, dont get me wrong its an unbelievable machine but wasnt that specific 450s a REPLICA?
Yes, ideed, I had a lot of fun giving power rides (about 20) to public in my Ferrari 360F1 Spider 2001 Rosso Corsa. Amaizingly, with the driving stability switch in "off" position, the car allowed me to drift !!! However, some "passengers" were visibly shaken... Thanks for the links, Juri! You're 360 Spider was lookin' good out there! It looked like you were having a lot of fun too. Randy
Thanks for kind words, Randy. I did have a lot of fun and I am looking forward to participate in this event next time as well ! Having a passenger in the car help with alligning the center of gravity towards the midline (it's the best excuse I came up with to feel even better while having fun on the track ).
