That does not make sense. Not enough of a power gain to justify stretching the chassis etc... to drop in a V12 with only a few more HP. Even if they put the GTO engine in, it seems like money better spent to add turbos to the V8 or better yet, wait for the next Super Ferrari.

    Nice story! :D

I had no idea he had an Enzo. For some reason, I thought he was a classic Ferrari fan.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

If I was Ferrari... id probably tell him just to go drive around the block in his enzo... and then wait for the next gen enzo

I dont think he just wants more power..He probably likes the 458 styling but wants his to be a little more special than all the ones every trader and their friends will have in London.

With how tightly everything is shoe horned into the engine compartment, I am surprised there is room for a larger motor.

I agree; the more sophisticated Ferraris become, the more all components work together as a unit. Change the engine and you may as well start from scratch if the goal is improved performance.

Except in Japan, of course - there, it was Blackmore.

will Ferrari do this, even for Clapton?

rebodying a car for the Sultan of Brunei, or that Walton fellow, or Jim, sure....but putting the engine from one car into another? seems like that's a lot of engineering and liability that would either blow up in their faces (literally) or be prohibitively expensive, even for a rock god.

and where are the limits to this? can I get a California with monster truck tires? ;)

You don't have to be Eric Clapton.

    a) Talk to your dealer, get a meeting with Ferrari North America (or Ferrari Proper)
    b) Tell them what you want, wait for response
    c) Get out your checkbook
    d) Wait for delivery
