Just in the preliminary testing phase right now, but we’ll be kicking off a program to reward authors of “projects”. After the preliminary phase I will announce the final program qualifications and rewards, but here is an outline…

    Qualifications for “Project Master”:
    • User in good standing.
    • Project thread(s) with > 10,000 views.
    • Semi-frequent updates.
    • Acceptance by myself and current Project Masters.

    Benefits of “Project Master”:
    • Rossa equivalent subscription.
    • ”Project Master” user title.
    • FerrariChat.com Blog if desired over a thread format (thread will still be available for discussions on your project).

    Rewards Program:
    • At 50,000 views total (blog and thread(s)) - $250 credit at FerrariChat.com Sponsor of your choice. “Project Master” permissions now for lifetime.
    • At 250,000 views total (blog and thread(s)) - $1,000 credit at FerrariChat.com Sponsor of your choice. New title “Honored Project Master”.

Please let me know if any feedback, our first tester is lvferraripilot and his “the lvferraripilot engine rebuild thread”: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279075 Thanks John for the help!

mk e also provided some feedback offline about this program. Mark talked about the negatives of doing a project documentation on FerrariChat where the community is so large and the discussion merges with the project updates in one thread. We have had blog functionality for awhile, but very few have used it over a thread. If the Project Master would like to document their project in a blog format, but then have all discussions in a thread we can do that.

    Thank you,
    rob

Jim, I hope your water pump project doesn't become worthy of 10,000 views!
Let's hope you can get through in in less than 500!

Good question Birdman and one of the areas we need to work out in the initial phase. My thoughts on this so far...

    1) To qualify now project threads need to be current, they could have been started years ago, but the project still needs to be ongoing with frequent updates. You would get credit for all views though.

    2) Most of your Project Masters won't be one and done. They do several projects over time and we need to give credit for the cumulative. The cumulative qualifications will probably be a little higher than the individual thread qualifications though.

Great idea! One of my favorite things about FC are the project threads. Way to incentivise additional projects.

Poor Jim though, he thinks 10,000 people will watch his water pump job. ;)

Can there be a "Project Apprentice" award for the guys who don't build a V12 engine from spare aluminum ingots in the garage, but do the smaller stuff?

LOL I think 99% of the projects will be of the everyday variety. Heck, I've got 80 pics of when I did the 328 clutch a couple years ago, but haven't found the time to post it yet. Maybe this will motivate me too! :)

If you only knew the time I've wasted looking for a good project thread on replacing the water pump!!! Maybe not 10,000 views, but I'll still post it up.... :)

Out of curiosity, I looked up the "Projects" that I've documented....

    Suspension Rebuild= 8,095 views,
Belt Change / Valve Adjustment / Electromotive Install thread = 6240 views
    Accident\ subsequent repairs = 12,000 views.

Maybe its time to start building stuff McGyver (aka mk e) style! LOL!!!!!

    It's a good idea!
It would be nice also to reward other kind of works -not only threads-, like my "How to" guide about the dash lights in a PDF format, like other Fchatters have done in other areas. Birdman, as example. On the sticky section there are some good examples about that.
    Just my 2 cents.

One chalk up for the good work

P.S.: I wanted also to do some other "How to", for the airbox -paint and stencil-, wheels, WP... but I will let this last one for Jimshadow... Hope he reaches 10.000 views!!!

    I'm compiling a R&R for the 308 AC system.

Basically I'm taking everything I've learned in the last few years, combined with what others have posted and putting it in one place for the benefit of other 308 users.

Not sure that would get a whole lot of views though!

Rob, I'd suggest you (or a designated moderator) stay active in re-wording the subject line, to most correctly reflect the project underway.

So many guys are good in the garage, good with the write-up/pictures but suck at a cutesy non-helpful subject line. This is critical when sorting wheat from chaff in a search which can often bring up hundreds of non-helpful posts.

Perhaps you can insert the word 'project' in the title and restrict its use otherwise.
