Felipe Massa received three team orders before he moved over for Fernando Alonso at Hockenheim, it has emerged.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport made the claim, as the controversy about prohibited team orders continues to rage days later in the Hungaroring paddock.

The report said Alonso, who was later heard on the radio to say the situation was "ridiculous," began to complain to the Ferrari pitwall about Massa's pace shortly after his pit stop.

The team replied that it could do nothing, so Spaniard Alonso, who turned 29 on Thursday, dropped back nearly four seconds.

His engineer Andrea Stella told Alonso he was worried about the growing gap, to which Alonso reportedly replied: "No problem, I will close up."

It was this pace relative to leader Massa that moved Ferrari to issue the team order.

But some media have portrayed Alonso as a bully and complainer, suggesting that his reputation has been negatively dented by the affair, which could cost him the support of the spectators.

But he told reporters in Hungary: "Of course it doesn't affect me, not at all. I don't think anything has changed for me or that anything will come back to me.

"Today when I arrived, the airport was full, also the hotel was full of people cheering for us, and these are the fans I saw so far," added Alonso.

He said if the shoe was on the other foot, he would also play the team game.

"If the conditions were the same, with the tires not working correctly, etc. ... I would surely do the same; the team is the most important thing," Alonso said.

Meanwhile, Massa was fending off claims that - particularly in his native Brazil - his reputation is in tatters.

"People believed in him," said Brazilian journalist Livio Oricchio. "He was considered a winner and thousands of fans saw him as a future champion.

"This image is gone," he added.

(Last I read, Alonso's image has been negatively affected, as now more fans realize he is a POS)

the spanish fans will back alonso to the ends of the earth. his premadonna attitude was so apparent when he was at renault i find it unbelievable people are surprised by this. have you been living under a rock for the past 5 years? for god's sake he tried to black mail ron dennis into ensuring he had number 1 status while at mclaren.

how people support alonso is crazy to me, but many do, so his attitude must appeal to some.

Anyone know yet when the WMSC will deal with the Ferrari team order case? Usually they set a date quite early.

Yeah. Two weeks before the end of the championship, so they can know better which way to sway the results.

    That's one part.

To me his attitude actually appeals. He has a take no prisoners approach. He can be brutal and he takes what is within reach. No compromise. People don't like his whining, but you know what: It works too. Prost did it even in a stronger sense by using the media against his own team and that got him to 4 WDC titles (plus fired from Ferrari :)). Whatever it takes.

I don't mind an arrogant driver if he backs it up with the results. Alonso does. As did Montoya or Schumacher in his prime. Speed less so, he was just arrogant with nothing to show for, that ain't cool.

I heard September, so that would be still several weeks and races before the last one. But it would also a bit anticlimatic and yesterday's news. Which is why I believe nothing of importance will come from it for Ferrari.

Worst case scenario is they take away the WCC points from Hockenheim, which I have no problem with. And Ferrari probably won't care at that point either because Red Bull and McLaren will be unreachable for the WCC trophy anyway.

Did I mention, that I like Todt?
    :)

It does tend to feel as if they are seeing how things pan out Mosley style, and then bring the hammer down as and when they feel fit.

Like you say, it won't probably matter to much.

But up to now I feel Todt is doing the right things, and I hope he does, years of Mosley and the under hand way he ruled the sport made me ill.

No I wasn't sure what you thought about Todt, glad you think that way to be honest, as a FA fan you could take another view..;)

Todt IMO so far so good.

Todt has been doing a fine job for the most part so far. For the sport it would have been better if they hadn't allowed the double diffuser last year, but it was nice to see the cinderella Brawn GP story unfold and I like Button.

And from a FA fan perspective Todt goes a bit both ways: They screwed him with the penalty in Silverstone, but so far they let Alonso get away with murder at Hockenheim. And they screwed MS in Monaco, which was a lot of fun too. :)

I will not win Jack's pot (TM) because of what happened to MS in Monaco. Which is also how MS fans will explain him not winning the title this year. :)

If they've indeed put the hearing off until Sept. Todt's done the smart thing. Given the average fan's short attention span a more measured action can be taken without repercussions. Who knows by then the decision may be moot in terms of the championships.
