In reality the GTE had no change agains the frontwheel drive agile DS.
The heavy GTE is not the best handling and steering car.
The later america 330GTE had even more problems with driveability.
Comparing those too agains the older PF-coupe,they also must surrender.
there weight balance is realy difficult.
The 330gt engine is simply too heavy- in weight- for that car.
But ideal car for fast staight motorways with more torque.
Second the 330gt engine has the tandancy of fibrations.
this was a problem well known at the factory in those days.
they improved the later 330gt by cutting off two motorstuds( GTC)
    BTW:
The police DS -in Italy and France- were upgraded with Constantini compressors to reach 230Km/h with only 2,1-2.3 liter engines.

I would hardly call 1317kg with 116 PS (DS23) agile, Cornelis. A GTE weighs 85kg more but has double the power. It seems to me the GTE has the edge here.

    Onno,
Everything what counts in these situations is HANDLING not power.

Don´t forget that, IIRC, the DS had all around independent suspension versus the semi-elliptical leaf springs and a solid rear axle of the GTE. In that "street race" the GTE could not get any advantage from its engine superiority.

Nope. You need both. A car with better handling but less power can be quicker, but a car with worse handling and more power can be quicker too. It depends on whether the deficiency in the one area is compensated for by the advantage in the other area.

I do not believe the DS has handling that can compensate for a 100% power hike - judging by the way that thing rolls like 30ft waves in the Southern Ocean... and judging by those narrow tires. Sure, it did have more advanced suspension but a blanket statement that a DS is agile and a GTE is a truck is just not correct.

It would be nice if you could back your statement up with something. So far, I remain unconvinced.

    Plot:
Marco Palma is a young driver's SWAT team, which wants to emulate the exploits of Marshal Tagliaferri, it was also a young pilot of the special team.

Palma and his colleague are discussing cars when they are alerted by radio that there is an ongoing pursuit of a Porsche on the Via Flaminia, so you bring the car to chase the bandits together with a normal police car (which will surpass Mark because "He wants see who flies more), but the bandits can get away because the car driven by Palma hood after braking at high speed cornering, caused by bandits stop linking to a switch. The car "Shark 6", a ' Alfa Romeo Giulia 1.6 green and accidents, and occupants were slightly injured. After a few days Palma and his colleague are back in service, always on board Sharks 6, which has been repaired and was increased engine hidden by Marco Palma. Robbery is a Banco di Roma and the police chasing robbers on board a Citroen DS of dark brown license plate Palermo 479,111, and some accomplices are roaming the streets with a Citroen near identical to the previous year, the bats are confused and chasing the 'last car, so the car the robbers was saved, but Palma understands everything and starts to chase it.

Meanwhile, the Marshal Tagliaferri, the service monitor, you have to understand that organized the strike is Dossena, said the Nice area, his archenemy, the great Frenchman. Tagliaferri ordered the policeman to let go, but stubborn, Mark continues the chase that ends with a rollover car and the death of colleague, who was to be transferred between two days to serve in ministry. Mark is sad and wants to leave the police, but Tagliaferri, given the driving skills of Palma, he wants to go undercover in the Nice area team, and Tagliaferri dusts off the garage of the old Police Ferrari 250 GTE , which had been fitted in January 1962 to chase the car faster and teaches the young how to drive at most. Palma joined the team in the Nice area, having had to overcome evidence of reckless driving. Dossena proposes to act as pilot in Palma in a robbery planned in the days following, but the undercover work is useless because Francesca, Marco's girlfriend, accidentally sees him and calls him on the street reveal, unfortunately, the real identity to thieves. The Niçois realizes robbery and flees, the Palma captures and escapes on foot, but let him escape because he did not want to go that way. After a few days the Nice area presents challenges to the police and Palma, but during an acrobatic leap Dossena will have a fatal accident.

During the shooting six police cars were destroyed.

The film celebrates the history of the famous pilot of the special team Armando Spatafora .
During a television interview on RaiDue September 2008 Stracult , Lilli Carati remember not to have found quite good to work in tandem with Maurizio Merli.

The Ferrari excells in flight though: it flies level, where the DS goes nose down.

I suspect that the Citroen, with most of its' weight on the driven wheels, has the edge on the loose surfaces most of this footage is shot on, much like a beetle on snow/ice.

I'd still rather be in the GTE :p

bellabarbas - thanks for identifiying the car, but are you sure that is correct? The GTE Register says 4105 was restored at Roelofs Engineering in 1978. I agree that it would need restoring after that jump, but would it have been restorable, given the value of a GTE in 1978? For what it is worth, I caught the License Plate in one of the shots:

Also, when John Hugenholtz purchased it in 1975, it was green. The movie car appears to be Blue with white stripes. John remained the owner until 1986.

From the number plates I can read 4105 and you can seen the last owner was the "Cleminternazionale" namely the Giovanni Di Clemente's company, the producer of movie "Poliziotto Sprint".
Probably after the utilization the car was sold without cancellation at pubblic registry. Was once common practice.
