Hmm looks like like a 308gts. Black pillars and the nose does not look like a 328 nose from that pic........

+1, they have used it since the early 1990s, both at Monza and Imola.

I was looking at that, too. But I was thinking, "Nah -- they'd use a newer car, wouldn't they?"

After all, that's not the message that Ferrari would want to send, that even the Monza track prefers the older Ferraris. :p

It is a 348tb. It is owned by CEA (the famous Cea lions), the italian private safety team operating on italian circuits especially during the F1 GP. This car was a gift of Gherard Berger to that team, as thanks for the intervention that saved him his life during the Imola GP of 1989.
This car is still used for fast interventions especially during the start of the race, and it is equipped with fixed extinguishing system and portable fire extinguishers .

    Ciao

Oh good! I'm glad I am not the only one who was trying to work that out on each lap. Ive seen the 348 a few times during Monza footage but I was sure it was a petit 308 tucked away.
Lovely story about the 348 gift from Gerhard Berger !

Thanks for the ID! I kept seeing that car and was saying to myself, "Gee, that certainly looks like a 3-series Ferrari!"

Great catch! I guess we ALL saw it in the video!! I just didn't feel like taking the
time to do a frame capture - but kept telling Mrs. Jedi "that's MY car sitting there!"
She thought I was nuts - not a 328, but 348 is still quite cool to see at Monza...

And I'll guarantee I'm not the ONLY ONE who who would simply LOVE to run my
328 around that track for an afternoon :)

I also wondered about that! Remember seeing it at Monza in '05 when I was there, and wondered why they were not using a more modern Ferrari. Hadn't seen it again until yesterday's coverage and when I spotted it, I thought it might be the same car. Although must say from the coverage yesterday it did look more like a 308 or even a Boxer's nose.

I too saw it during the broadcast and thought it was a 308. Way cool!
