As we all know, the electronics in this car are baffling.

How about a thread where we can all list tips and tricks on how to use everything as the manual is totally useless!

I'll start (and I can't take credit for this one)

Behind the steering wheel (at least on the one with LEDs that I have) there are controls on the left and right for working the stereo. Left side with control volume and the right one allows you to change channels up and down and switch media (from ipod to sat radio) etc.

It may do more than that but that's all I can remember right now.

Pause Ipod - If you hold the left volume button DOWN for 2 seconds or so - it will PAUSE the Ipod.

Tone Controls - The center button on the right idrive (media?) will access the TONE (Bass / Treble/balance/fader/etc) if you press it for 2 seconds.

Homelink - HOLD the outside 2 buttons on the mirror down for 20 seconds - till the light starts to flash rapidly.
    - Press the button you wish to program AND the button on the old transmitter at the same time - till the light flashes
    - Press the learn button on your garage opener
    - Press the button you just programed on the car
    - Press the learn button again on your garage opener.

    Anyone have some others?

Sit in the car, turn the key, push the start button, step on the brake, pull the right side paddle, release the brake, clench your butt cheeks., step on the throttle, hold on tight. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Anybody wanting to ask questions regarding the new era steering wheel and functions should ask either their kids/ niece or nephews or even grandkids.

To introduce this new set up, they should of made this car mac f1 style with 3 seats so you could go out wife wife/partner and kidnap grandchild for day to show you how to operate things. N

Sorry couldn't resist after just figuring out after 2 days of pressing buttons on tv remote to find out what my 3 year old son had pressed.

I am not ashamed to also say the parking brake is still a bit of a mystery to me.

I know if I turn the key off in the car - I get a message saying it is in carwash mode and I see the park light flash and set.

But I don't really know what carwash mode is..

I am going to try that - it will not turn off the audio?

    Cool!

Car wash mode is when you shut down the enine while in neutral. The car is capable of
rolling ( just like in a car wash with rail-driven tracks ). Shutting down while in gear ( forwards or backwards ) activates the parking brakes. " hold " is NOT the same as in parking. Go over your manual carefully and
see the subtle difference before you have a rolling incident.

If you hold the turn signal button down for more than a second, the signals will only flash 3 times and then shut off. You need to just tiouch and let go for the regular cycle..

Middle button on the audio in back of steering wheel changes audio input from radio to Ipod for example.

Also I heard that holding the left button down for 10 seconds, initiate warp drive and charge the photon torpedoes. :) haha

Where I live a lot of the hand wash places use a track to pull the car through the rinse jets. They seem to be full of high end cars.

    Two issues w my electronics.
One is during hard turns the seat warmer signal comes on the left TFT. The warmer is not on. Guys at the dealer were not able to id an issue. Any one else with this problem?
Another issue that I have noticed is that the Nav map cannot be on unless the stereo is on. If you mute the stereo once in a while it unmutes and scares the hell out of you! Any thoughts

What does TFT mean? I must have missed the definition in the Manual.

The TFT stands for Thin-film transistor, a technology used in flatscreen displays. He means the left screen.

Another annoyance is that the mute state is not saved between stopping and starting the car. In other words, if you have the radio muted and turn the car off, when you restart the car, the sound comes back on.

Yes, but you can of course turn the radio off completely - and it will stay off.

I have the HIFI, but my steps are:

Make sure radio is on by pressing and holding "Main"
Once on, press and hold "Menu" until you see the "setup" menu
If the "setup menu" does not show, press the button again and hold.
First item in the list should be "audio controls"
Select "audio controls" and the first item is "treble" followed by "midrange", "base", etc.

I am not sure if this is how your will work, but I just went out to the car and tried my step on the HIFI system and that works
