    Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share with you all a unique story I just wrote for Autoblog Canada. The just of the story is that an artist doused his 355 Spider with gasoline and set it ablaze - for art!

I thought you guys would enjoy the read and have some choice words for it so follow the link for the full story/poll!

    http://ca.autoblog.com/2011/09/08/ferrari-355-spider-torched-in-the-name-of-art/

"Ferraris are often considered immaculate works of art. Everything from their style, design, performance, and history all generate an invisible aura that glows around any model coming from the Modena factory. Although some high-end collectors may be able to have one sitting in their living room or grand entrance to their elaborate mansions, the majority are enjoyed on the roads and are not immune from accidents or mishaps that may cripple the prancing horse.

It is a sad sight to see a distraught Ferrari, let alone any supercar. Or is it?

An artist that goes by the name of Anthony James seems to think differently. Sure he has a deep profound love for his Ferrari, but it is clearly not as deep as his love for art. He decided to douse his 355 Spider with gasoline at his rural New York residence and set fire to it... all to create a piece of art. He committed the, what some might consider sinful act, all to create what he likes to call "ΚΘ" for "Kαλός Θάνατος", which is Greek for "good death."

In an interview with Forbes he explained that his "masterpiece" was meant to signify a sacrifice of a loved possession, similar to how Ancient Greeks used to sacrifice to Venus in birch forests, hence the significance of the lone birch tree in the fluorescent light box. Whoa, that's deep!

Hop the jump to see a video of the demolished Ferrari sitting in the Patrick Painter Gallery in Santa Monica, Calif.

This has us wondering if Autobloggers would really consider this a piece of art? Take a moment to have your say in the poll and express your rage in the comments."

    Cheers,

    Daniel

    Lol...

Regarding the artist - since he torched his 355 in the name of art then he should be jailed in the name of justice.

Total B.S. The car looks like it had a front-end collision. He probably got caught finishing it off and came up with the art story.

That very well maybe but it's his car, he can do whatever he wants with it. With one less 355 spider on the road, he might have just push up everyone else value up in the process. Never did understood much of modern art anyway, I wonder how much his crash & burned prized possession would go for?

It's better to burn out than to fade away. Or rust.

I dont think a panamera would look good if it was burned down to ashes....

Sad about the 355. I dont see any art form in that at all.
