Anyone live here? Anyone been here?

My father use to live here, I grew up in Radlett so I don't know the place that well, wondered what the place was like? Always like knowing history but never say it, I've been to my mum's old places but not my dad's...

Hampstead contains some of the most expensive property streets in the UK. But thats a small area. A large area of North London is encompassed by Hampstead, or West Hampstead. People who live in surrounding areas such as Kentish Town, Kilburn etc often claim to live in Hampstead and people from West Hampstead will leave out the "West" part! Its not really possible to say what Hampstead is "like" as it encompasses such different areas. This is pretty much the norm in London, areas at one end of the property scale right next to the other end.
Dont forget you can wander around the whole area on Google Street View.

West Hampstead (where I once upon a time lived) is as you say a completely separate area with Finchley Road separating it from the "real" Hampstead. If anything I think you are rather confusing the issue by referring to it.

Hampstead itself is on top of Hampstead Hill and is a sort of London "village". As Andy says, it has some of the most expensive houses in London, but they are not all like that although property prices there will always be relatively high. Hampstead Heath is an open "park" area and very popular. Hampstead has always been known as an area where artists and writers live. Wikipedia is for once fairly accurate.

Amazing what eyes can do these days.

Someone had posted the link, heres a link I would post and thanks for your negative post.

    http://www.specsavers.co.uk/

And I don't really find wikipedia that good, just doesn't give me enough sufficient information, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radlett, I mean there's nothing I don't know there, I thought on Wiki you learn something new each day as the founder states somewhere I read before.

Thought i would emphasise the point that Google gives you the opportunity to search for the information you are looking for without the need to bother others and attention seek.

The link to Hampstead on Wikipedia doesn't give you sufficient information? You knew it all already despite stating, "I don't know the place that well"?

more of a contemporary guy, like more modern things, dont mind the old things because of the history...

just wondering what are the few parts of england left which aren't complete dumps with fat women aged 18 carting around their babies in prams in bright pink/purple tracksuits, dumped in makeup and going around in pimped up fiesta's... makes me sick that England has degenerated into the dump it is... as it use to be a once proud country.

Either a deliberate troll post or someone who does not live in the UK but gets all his info from the Daily Mail website. No doubt these people exist but strangely I have never seen them other than on TV. Maybe they mainly exist in the North of England, not really sure.

Of course I live in the U.K. not in the past 6 months though.

Not a troll post, ask anyone under 25 these days, Englands gone to the dogs, not every area, most towns though (Villages not).

Don't know how bad London is these days, or where you live, you just need to go to Town, go near a Tesco's, retail park (****ty brands like Vans ect) and you will see them, maybe I'm over exagerrating and you don't see them all the time, but you wonder how these things were created and what their upbringing was like.

    http://www.chavtowns.co.uk/
    http://knowhere.co.uk/

some of them are highly entertaining, some are over the top though and you will probably find your area, and yes I agree, the Daily Mail online is terrible, but I read it to laugh at the TOWIE stars making idiots of themselves.

Ahhh I really don't know with that cheeky grin if that post is full of sarcasm, I know some 13 year old girls decked in ****ty cheap make up carry bottles of Vodka around town acting (I've seen it admitted before) drunk or is drunk wondering aimlessly throughout the high street about 9pm.

I know I'll get a lot of heat for this statement below but I'm going to write it anyway lol.

As I have been to private school and state school (expelled from private school, but I turned my behavour problems around when I was 14) I can easily tell you that private school children have a far better upbrining than a state school student.

Obviously I can't say past 14 what Private school was like apart from my Sister and Brothers friends but they were always well represented, well mannered children, of course some will be naughty (me others), others will be stuck up (Eton, Harrow, Rugby School), but even if they were that, they were always respectful of their surroundings.

Now onto state school, WOW, how bad mouthed, I see these 12 year old kids sitting on railings in town, decked out in ****ty designer hoods, gym sweatpants and the ****test most cheapest high tops/skater shoes I've ever seen. They just sit there, swear loudly to each other and just vandalise the place.

Don't forget their parents that let them drink from a young age (face palm), crap all over the place in the toilets. I hated state school and it forced me to change my behavour problems.

Some in my village are now smoking cannabis at 13/14, some are at least putting in 20GBP (sorry no currency symbol on Turkey keyboard) every day to get them high, others find it funny to spray paint garage doors.

I'm just proud of my father for bringing me up well, for giving me and my siblings the funds for private school, College, University ect, all in all raising me well, I'm just sorry I took everything for granted when I was younger and pissed around in private school.

I ruined my privilege, and If I ever have children (Don't really want to) then they will be definitley be going to private school, never would I want them to mix with these miscreants from today.

    Sorry mate

There are no doubt places and people like that in the UK (and quite possibly large areas), and probably in most other parts of the world as well. But you do generalise rather. I am 62 and although this country has changed enormously in my lifetime it is in general nowhere near the way you portray it.

Whilst you two are right, there's good somewhere and bad somewhere, perhaps you guys won't see much of it as your way too far out of the age range.

As a 62 year old I wouldn't expect you to hit the town at 10-4 on Fridays and Saturdays, perhaps you can cruise through a town in your car one day at that time (in the car please, some yote might attack an elderly person because they think its cool) and see the carnage, girls going arounds literally selling themselves... young people going around vandalising, it does happen and I think it's really immature at how they want to live in the worse area and most crime ridden place.

Wow I've never seen people older than maybe 30 in town, but thats not like in a City, maybe where you guys live is much better!!!

You need to (Wouldn't reccomend it) to go out at night in town somewhere like Watford, Banbury, Cowley (Oxford)... haha then you'll see some of my points stand true, you'll want to stay in Wales.

You guys won't see the behaviour because we will hang in different groups... I see your group as a much more mature group probably enjoying their weekend after a hard weeks work..

My age, people will run straight to the toilet, sniff a line of coke and head to the dance floor... that's a norm for a thursday night when everything's free in town nearest to me LOL.

One of my friends has been offered to buy a gun in a club before.
