http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4501381256&rd=1 I'm speechless. Anybody know anything about this thing? Does it use a Ferrari engine?
And I thought this was going to be a thread about monkey boy from up north. I'm sure he'll have something to say about being associated with this monstrosity -R
The sales thread states Bill Harrah and Bill Harran. If it's Bill Harrah, same Bill as in Harrah's auto collection in Reno? What's cooking here? When I lived in Reno, I lived next door to Mrs. Bill Harrah. She was a sweet lady who brought us cookies about once a week via her guard. Once in a while she came over herself.
This does appear to be the one of a kind Jerrari (half Jeep and half Ferrari). I grew up with 2 of Bill's kids and had known of the Jerrari. Bill Harrah was one of the original Ferrari distributors in the U.S.. He had this Jeep custom built to drive between his Reno and Lake Tahoe homes. I remember as a child going to the Harrah's Automobile Collection. What an amazing collection of cars, boats and planes. Bill employed around a dozen full time mechanics to restore and create vehicles such as the Jerrari. I will make a few phone calls to get more info on the Jerrari. I will keep you posted.
Remember, there were two types - this one, which is a wagoneer with a 365 nose grafted on, and the other, which looked like a stock bright orange wagoneer, but with a 365 engine (I think) shoe horned in the nose. The orange one was still on display in the Reno museum in 2001. Neat.
I spoke to one of Bill Harrah's mechanics regarding this Jerrari. This was the first of two Jerrari's. The second one is located at the Harrah's Automobile Collection in Reno. This one, I was told does not have the original Ferrari 275 engine that was installed by Bill Harrah. It was removed and the body was sold to Wayne Newton's manager.
Mike is right on both counts. FWIW, I like the one in the museum; it's absolute dead stock on the outside, not a clue if the hood is closed; until you turn the key........I was so disappointed every time I started mine......... And I passed on the 'guppy' about 10 years ago; with no V12, who cared? james
