June 16 for the NY GP As I predicted months ago and caught lots of flak and ridicule over it. Meanwhile my hotel reservation for Manhatten is locked in place at a bottom rate (for NY prices).
i believe the majority of the flak (if not the only flak) was from me in a debate i abandoned long ago ... my apologies.
No problem, we made our peace a long time ago. There were others who kept on firing long after the public announcement by Jersey's Governor that it would be in June. The rest was simple math: Monaco date is always set in stone. Montreal is thereafter and the teams need two weeks to make it across the pond. NY is within trucking distance from Montreal, so the one week (a la Indy US GP) is only natural. Besides: They need then another 2 weeks to haul back across to be ready for the next Euro race. While we're always smarter in hindsight, there wasn't a whole lot of wiggle room for that date. At any rate: I'm enjoying now a hotel rate, which is below a Montreal price and far below an Austin price. Oh wait, there are no hotels in Austin anyway. Nevermind... PS: I definitely want to go to the Austin GP one year. If I can ever get a nice hotel nearby. Even if it costs me an arm and a leg. Any hints welcome.
That's a TENTATIVE schedule, is it not? But hopefully the 2 US GPs will stay. Wonder when the schedule becomes official.
Why? Valencia had a great race this year but normally is just as boring as Hungary, which has occasionally a good race too. Spectatorwise Hungary is more fun: less heat and Budapest is way more interesting
Just booked a hotel in Montreal. The NY contract dispute makes me nervous and I don't want end up without a hotel/GP next year.
My wife has an office in Hoeboken (or however it's spelled... ). Will go to the June 16 race with her. Kai
