That last race was absolutely crazy, and I hope all the naysayers who doubt Vettel's driving skills will be quiet by now (from 22 to 7 within 8 laps, if I may remind you). Alonso would have been an absolutely deserving champion too, but RB and Vettel simply were better this season. Speaking of this season - it was the best I've ever seen!

It was an amazing season, and Alonso was supreme in keeping it so close right to the end. :D

And, yes, congratulations definitely go to Vettel and Red Bull - they are worthy champions. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Congrats to Vettel and rbr. They didn't even have to pull the chickenpoop move and use team orders! They are the righteous winners.

Well, Webber's resistance against Vettel overtaing him this race wasn't too serious... :)

Didn't see that pass (lol, Russian tv cut away) but that's chickenpoop too if Webber was faster but sowed for Vettel. Although the gearbox stuff, and a few instances of team orders make me feel Vettel is the righteous winner this year.

Amazingly, Alonso almost pulled it off! The odds were really stacked against going into this last race of the season, but the difference at the end was only 3 pts.! Had he been able to catch Button, he would be world champion in a most unlikely finish. Congrats to Vettel. I keep thinking back to Spa and how even a mediocre finish would have resulted in a different outcome, however.

Webber was rolling over to everyone today...very disappointed in that!

And guys, Spa or not, Vettel also has 2 DNF's this season and one outside the points due to Karthikeyan hitting him (cutting his tire).

Both drove fantastic seasons and either would have been a worthy champion. I think Vettel should be most proud of this WDC so far!

dissapointed but a great season end with a classic brazil race

a very balance season, everyone got their share of bad luck but hamilton suffer the most, going down to the wire and so close winning it alonzo is simply amazing this year with a average car

vettel got the luck the faster car and he is getting better and better, next year vettel got a fast car he can go on win another championship..so beware ferrari and mclaren

I agree the championship went to the rightful winners. For the WDC, mechanical DNFs are the only ones that are ZERO fault of the driver's IMO. And Vettel had 2 or 3, vs none for Alonso. Alonso's DNF were in part due to overaggressive driving, so he had some fault there. DNFs are obviously 100% the fault of the constructor, even if the engine builder is to blame, like on RB's case (they choose engine builders). But even with all RBs mechanical DNFs, they were clearly superior to the others, especially on the 2nd part of the season. So well deserved as well.

Some here didn't care how Ferrari won. But I don't like 'illegitimate' titles due to questionable penalties, and crap like that. This title was fought on the track, and even though Vettel had a ton of bad luck and Alonso a ton of good one, Vettel won the hard way. And proved once more he's the real deal. I'd like to see him drive for the prancing horse some day. He has 3 titles when most multi-time champion winners were getting started. He's probably going to break a few more records before he hang his gloves.... health permitting :D.

Vettel was clearly faster, and was going to pass him on the next straight at the most. And don't forget Webber's challenge to Vettel on the first turn, which forced him back out of precaution... and to his eventual crash (I'd have helped him out, and allow him in front of me... out of my own accord). Then his kamikaze move trying to take him on a 3-wide pass, along with Kobi. He drove like an a$$ today IMO. He was zero help; that's for sure.

I didn't think Vettel would be able to pull it off judging how things started off this season, but he really dominated the latter portion of the season.

I'm very impressed with what Alonso was able to accomplish this year, Ferrari has a lot of work ahead of them.

I'm not crazy about another Ferrari-esque dynasty starting over again.

BTW who really idolizes an energy drink vs a auto manufacturer ?
You wont see me in a Red Bull T shirt.

Still; given the alternative of an Alonshole WDC Seb is the better choice.

In today's F1 righteous is an elastic term.

    Congrats to Seb and RB.
I won't say that they, or anyone else, deserved to win but they certainly earned their championships.

Alonso was supreme in all aspects this year.
This was a man that consistently was on the podium all year long.
If it was'nt for Romain Grosjean taking Alonso out in the first lap of the Belgian Gran Prix it would of been a cake walk today.
    Forza Alonzo!

Man you said it EXACTLY. Alonso drove well this season but he had a TON of help from Massa - he wouldn't have even been within 13 pts before today without all the help. And a TON of luck with all the banzai moves he pulled at the start of each race.I doubt he'll have the luck to keep doing that every race next year. Vettel is the one that had to overcome more mis-fortune. I can't believe anybody who says he doesn't deserve it. Alonso only needed the help and luck because he couldn't put the car closer to the front of the grid. Massa did! In the last few races so why did Alonso CHOKE? Put Fred in the RB and Vettel still out-qualifies him every time -- guaranteed. And to think they may not be able to sign Vettel for fear of 'having too many roosters' or whatever the crap Luca said. Bang on about Webber too- what the hell was he thinking?? I would sack him on the spot for the crap he pulled today. Maybe he's jealous too or he was on the take from Fred..whatever it was it was insane

I don't think it would have been a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination, but if Alonso had not been taken out by Grosjean then I presume he and Vettel would have arrived in Brazil virtually tied for points.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

First off, LOL @ "mechanical DNFs being ZERO fault of the driver." Only someone that is uneducated about F1 would say that. Were Seb's mechanical DNFs this year his fault? No. Neither were Schumi's. However, drivers can do things like hit curbs too hard and causing gearbox failures, flatspot a tire causing a suspension failure, cooking your brakes resulting in failure, etc.

Secondly, a title won due to a mechanical failure is NOT "illegitimate." That's a ridiculous view of things. I'm one of the biggest MS fans around and Alonso's '06 title was not illegitimate because he won it due to Schumi's engine failure at Suzuka. Nor was FA's '05 title somehow illegitimate because Kimi had a bunch of DNFs.

Lastly, it's entertaining to watch you come in here and pretend to be a Ferrari fan (no one buys that, sorry) and claim you hoped they won today, only to make backhanded compliments to Alonso your whole post. It's hilarious that you think Vettel had such poor luck when he absolutely should have lost the title today due to boneheaded driving on the first lap. Cutting across Senna was beyond stupid and it's miraculous his car was not damaged beyond repair or he picked up a puncture. Considering the circumstances, THAT was "over-aggressive" driving - but then again, you think getting taken out by Grosjean was somehow Alonso's fault due to "over agressive driving" so who knows what's going on in your head. I guess he should have used the eyes in the back of his head to deploy the Star Wars shield generator so he didn't get hit. Man, Alonso sucks!
