While at Watkinks Glen for the race this weekend, I saw that the International Motor Racing Research Center was have a raffle for a ultra low mileage, mostly original 1982 308GTSi.

They are selling a maximum of 2308 tickets. The winner will be drawn on December 7th, 2013. All proceeds will benefit the Center for their works in preserving motor racing history.

    Tickets are $60 and 2 for $100.

The web address for tickets is: International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen NY (racingarchives.org)

There are a couple of things about the car I can tell you. It has less than 1300 original miles and comes with everything the car originally came with. It has original metric wheels and tires. For some reason it has a euro front bumper and US rear bumper. It also has an upgraded stereo. The paint has a few minor flaws and the interior is a 9.5.

So for anyone who wants to get a Ferrari to add or start their collection, here is an inexpensive chance. I am not affiliated with the center, just thought it was something everyone here might be interested in. Good luck.

Can or would anybody vouch for this organization. Are they legit as well as running a fair raffle? We've all seen this scam before. I wish I was more trusting but don't want fellow fchat people or friends get scammed.

They were just awarded the archives of the late Chris Economaki. It's a great place to find the history of Motorsports. Highly recommended to visit if you are in the area.

    Inexpensive is a relative term!

The winner will presumably be up for a few steep expenses to keep this car. Knowing a bit about its service history would be desirable.

More interestingly what is the best course of action for the winner; keep and drive or put in your museum? Given it's the "least desirable" (sorry Dr Cosgrove!) 308 how many would do the latter. Should I be so lucky to win I'll be doing the former and trying not to worry about it - I don't have a museum either!

I also wonder what will the appraised value be for good ol' tax time.

    cheers

I'm not sure if I get it all right (still a foreign language for me..), but the winner intends to sell te car, that much I understand, but is he selling the car in the state he won it, exept for the recent service ?

And the "Classiche" label: how is that possible with the combination euro front- and US rear bumper ?

    Anyway, a Beautiful (capital B ! ) car...

It really should have an 85 mph speedometer as well to be just perfect perfect correct for 1982.

Tons have been changed over the years.

    Air pump belt is gone.

(You can get an extra 75 hp when you remove it)

Yeah but that is flywheel horsepower. How much of that makes it to the wheels?

Speaking of which the black screen print is missing from the wheels if we are looking for perfect.

Does removing air pump belt really gain 75hp? You mean the smog pump belt, right?

    I was kidding.

People take this off all the time thinking it will make the car berserk with power. It doesn't.
