Would someone be able to verify if this is actually Enzo Ferrari’s signature? When I was about 13 years old, I sent Mr. Ferrari a letter. I did not expect to get a reply. I have always wondered if this was his signature or was signed on his behalf?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Pfafftown! You're a neighbor! Bring it to the next local get together and you'll be a celebrity!

I doubt he was signing cards 6 months before his death (your doc is Feb 88, right?) but it's still cool.

Definatly the signature of the man himself. Do not know whether or not he typed it himself, but the signature is correct. Even with the purple ink and all.

I have a signed and certified letter and the sigature looks very similar. I would have a liturature expert look at it and certify it in writing. It will be worth the money spent.

    Chris,

I would pause and think about how crummy it would feel to find out that this was not acutally Ferrari's signature. If I was in your shoes, There's no way that the thing would ever be for sale to anyone for any price. Authenticating the signature wouldn't make it worth any MORE to you, but if you were to find out that his secretary had signed it for him, it will almost certainly disappoint.

it could be a stamp, which secretaries use for signatures.

At any rate, its a very cool document.

in today's werld where almost anything can be faked if you care enough to try, i still would like to put faith in the authenticity of at least a few "people" who share the same number of chromasomes as me.

Ash, my point exactly. I would rather believe that it is authentic, rather than pay someone to tell me whether it is or isn't.

Interesting how this thread suddenly points out little emotion and durability there is in emails ...
If I had such a letter, It would be hung on the wall ...

If you examine it closely does it look like a signature or a stamp? Keep in mind that if it was from a purple felt tip pen the letters would probably be thinner then if it was a stamp. That guy could tell you in a heart beat if real just by the pic there, date and nature of what Ferrari sent to you as a reply. Great piece anyway. Why not frame it? FYI, if you do frame it and put it up any sun will have a tendency to fade the signature.

That brings a tear to my eye.

You must have been a happy 13 year old back when you received that letter.

This just goes to show us all how proud yet humble a man Enzo Ferrari was.

Was he? I've never read any candid commentary on how he REALLY was...was he really nice and humble? Was he arrogant and self righteous?
Anybody here know the REAL story?
