My name is Ryan and I am 21 years old. I will be spending a semester in Melbourne, Australia studying at Monash University. I thought it would be a good idea to get to know some Australians who share a common interest in cars and especially Ferrari. I will arrive in Melbourne about halfway through February and will be staying until July. I am definitely planning on attending the AGP in March. I would really enjoy meet and make new friends during my stay. Furthermore, I have a few questions as I prepare for my trip:
-Best method for purchasing AGP tickets?
-Cellular phone options in Australia so that I can frequently call the USA
-Finally, some car related must-see sites in Australia that I could explore
    Thanks
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan.
    Welcome to Australia Buddy.
A host of us will be there for the GP, myself included.
The best place to buy tickets is www.ticketmaster7.com.au
That is the official site, so you dont have to worry.

In regards to "Mobile Phones" as we call them out here, your best bet would be getting a "Pre-Paid" mobile. That way you buy "Pre-Paid Recharge Cards" that give you a set amount of value on your account. And you can recharge your account by buying new cards.
    Check out:
    www.telstra.com.au
    www.optus.com.au
    www.vodafone.com.au

I live in Sydney, so i dont know where the car sites are in Melbourne, but i know that the Fox Musuem is a go. You can see the "MCENZO" (tm) there!!

Check out http://www.foxcollection.org for more info....

IF you need anything else, feel free to post up in this forum.

Hope your stay in our fine land is enjoyable.

Ok...first of all, you should call her a lady, not a broad. It's considered impolite.

Hey! I thought of that when i first replied to this thread! But considering that Ryan had a "serious" tone, i opted out.

I'll take about 25% credit for that joke.
Sorry Peter. At least you got the bigger half. Im open for negotiation. :D:D:D

What number is an Enzo? I'll keep posting until there.

You could get a car like mine for $150k or so, apparently.

I know all there is to know about impolite! I'm an expert on it.

Ok, I guess I fell into that one...
Besides studying the "ladies" of Australia, I will be taking business courses at the Monash University in Melbourne. My friend and I will be attending the same University for the same semester. We both plan on doing a lot of travelling. My visa lasts six months and I will only have classes for about three months so I will have a lot of time to relax, travel and have fun. I was interested in hearing any opinions from you guys about must see or do activities in Australia. Haha, I hope this post is a little less serious.
    Thanks
    Ryan

the Putty Rd between Windsor and Singleton is my favourite although the Great Ocean road is a classic.

I don't think anyone could beat me on the Putty in the same car when I was young as I really threw the car at the last sweeping "corners" as you come into the last 30-40kms from Windsor, they are corners only at really high speeds (200kph+) and I was never in a really great car to try for any faster.

In WA the only good roads would be to the airport to leave or the Nullaboring hwy where you could sit on 300 for hours and go to sleep :D

r u organising a Russian airship to bring us eastern staters over this year JM ?

    Nyet :)

However, a great deal will be available from TNT - in containers, on the train - and your travel subsidy will nearly cover it - how's that for a deal?

That's only for F-Cars though, so you'd be out of luck :)

Nah - not that advanced yet - milk is still delivered from churns into a billy hung on the front gate!
I've told you before, we're 3 hours and 10 years behind the rest of the country :)
However, having said all that, the local wine is senational.
Current score in the JM/JM wars is Sandgopers 1 - Queens 0 - probably 2-0 after WA Rally :)

If all goes to plan on exam results day soon then I will be out studying in Sydney from July to December/January this year.
I am of course an utter petrolhead and love to see great cars. How many of you folks are in Sydney and do you have any getogethers out in NSW?

    Thanks
