Well I finally got my new 355 rims sorted out and on my 348 this week. Big thanks to the folks at Joe Macari for the help and supply (and Ed gumball3000 for putting me on to them). I am well pleased with both the look and the car`s handling - the new rims are considerably lighter. Never was happy with the stock 348 behemoths... far too much metal on them for my taste, although I know many wouldn`t consider changing them. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree, they look very tasty I wont have a bad word said against the 348.Apart from the stock wheels.
Geoff Wheels look great, although I still prefer the originals. I am convinced the design of the 348 wheels follow on the side strakes theme, hence the sharper lines on the wheels versus the softer on the 355. Always nice to see more pics of a 348!
The look great. My 18's rims are being refurbished. I am having them powder coated in black as the base coat and silver/metallic paint added in layers. I think they look awesome. £100 for a set of 4. I understand poweder coating is the best way. It gives the best hard wearing finish. The 355 rims do look spot on the 348.
I too am surprised how much the car now looks like a 355! Ireally like the look. Can I ask what the cost was. You don't have to be specific. Was it hundreds ££ or thousands ££££?
Wheels look nice! I've not found many yet who prefer 348 wheels on taste! People only seem to keep them for originality reasons. However..... curiosity strikes: The 355 and 348 Spider rear wheel arches are filled out much more (wider track) than 348tb/ts/GTB/GTS. A previous thread more-or-less established that on the 348 this was due to different rear wheels with less offset for the Spider. Presumably the same reduced offset as 355 wheels. So why do your 355'ers cower in the rear wheel arch like the original 348tb/ts wheels? Can anyone post the offsets of 348tb/ts, 348 Spider and 355 rear wheels? Should be stamped on the wheel I would think after the letters ET somewhere?
Thank y`all... Justin, look forward to seeing how yours turn out, that sounds interesting. Phil, PM`d you some info mate.
Exactly... that's why I like the originals. I much prefer the angular look of the 348 and am in the minority of those who prefer the 348 wheels. I had a black RR Vogue SE a few years ago and wanted to put the newer silver 5-spokes on, but was persuaded by our Creative Director to keep the originals with the colour coded centres - of course, he was right, and I'm glad I kept them. However... if that is the look the prefer Geoff, then you seem to have succeeded in spades. Looks very very nice... but for God's sake give your car a clean man!
Geoff - fantastic. I really think that 355 wheels on a 348 make a huge difference. I'd also like to see a 348 front on a 355 - I think that would make the 355 a hell of a lot better (just wish I had the 'cohones' and cash to do it to mine!)
