Rob has been kind enough to allow me to post this, so here goes. As many of you know, I am very big into giving to charity- and in school, I've become super involved with a club called "Students of Albany Against Cancer". This year, I've been elected to the cabinet and to be a captain of one of the teams for our annual fundraiser called "Relay for Life". RFL is basically an 18 hour marathon in which each team has to have at least one member running/jogging/walking on the track- and is used to raise awareness as well as $$$ for the American Cancer Society. This year, they've set up a website that allows friends to donate directly to the Cancer Society and raise $ for the team. Of course, as this is a charitable donation, it is tax deductible, and you will be able to use your credit card as it is a secured site. I ask that you please donate to my team, as various Fchatters have already done; even $20 makes a difference. An address has been requested by a few members who would rather pay in check form. If you're interested, you can make the checks payable to "American Cancer Society" and sent directly to me: Kenny Herman 1400 Washington Avenue Dutch Quad, Van Cortdland Hall Box# 0239 Albany, NY 12222
KENNY I WOULD RATHER SEND A CHECK TO YOU PLEASE TELL ME TO WHOM AND ILL SEND IT TO YOUR HOME ADDRESS THANKS BRUCE
Two contributions from other Fchatters, one being a WC'er-- very pleased so far, keep it coming! Also, if interested, get coworkers and friends...
We also have an ACS Relay for Life here in the spring which my house (and many other greek houses) volunteer for doing things such as cooking food, setting up, keeping candles lit, running the registration tent and stuff like that. 2 years ago we raised over $55,000. Last year wasnt as great, but hopefully this year will be better. If people really like donating i will post the link to one (sport or fraternity) of the teams i am on once i know it. Its one of the better causes that everyone can relate to because everyone has been affected by cancer, either directly or through someone they know/love.
Duplicating a post I made elsewhere... I'm glad to support such a good cause, and to be able to do it alongside my EC friends. Good cause, Kenny. So, where are the other EC guyZ?
Patrick Shim (a WC'er who helped enormously in AutoRox, and an stand-up gentlement) just donated and is bringing in the SoCal guys for us! Let's go! Again, thanks guys!
Tim, I appreciate that you also have a cause to raise money for but please do not do it on Kenny's post. This post is for Kenny's cause. thank you
Just donated in memory of my Aunt Rita. Come on guys! Dig in for this! You never know when something as awful as cancer can strike one of us.
Its the same cause. I wasnt trying to detract from Kenny's goal of raising money. I did not post a link to or any info on how to donate to my team (ie. no solicitation) so i fail to see any wrongdoing on my part.
If people really like donating i will post the link to one (sport or fraternity) of the teams i am on once i know it. This is the quote why I put what I put Tim. I know it's for the same cause which is great but I made that comment so people can give through Kenny's site. We all give to different causes but didn't want to take away from Kenny's personal goal of $10,000.
Signing off at 3:34AM @ $1,100 in 2 days! We should be able to hit $2k by the end of this weekend if everyone pitches in, please! Side note: I am soo very happy to announce that I'm officially part of the Park family (Jon, Jane and D'anne (sp?)) as they've been of crucial assistance in this momentous fundraiser!
I'll shoot a check out to ya in memory of my Grandmother, Grandfather, and Mother. All of whom were taken too soon by cancer. Kenny thanks for doing this, I sincerely appreciate it. - Dwight Hutchison
Thanks guys! $1120.00 and 6 or 7 checks in the mail- keep it coming! Can we hit $1500 by Saturday night?
