I'm considering the purchase of a late model Ferrari with 3,000 mi from a private party which was originally purchased and serviced at Ferrari Long Island. Of course I intend to have a PPI prior to purchase and would appreciate your comments about their service department.

You're going to get some positive and some negative comments on this board regarding FoLI. I'm sure they will give you and honest PPI and discuss all teh service performed on the car if that's where it's located though. Are you looking for anything in particular in regards to their integrity?

i dont want to sound arrogarnt, but really....

i think that if u ask a group of fcar owners how a certain ferrari service department is, that it's really a stupid question. u gonna get the same responses.....OH that place is fvcken awesome!!! use them!!.....OR....damn...that place sux. i got jacked there!

every service department has their horror stories and their positive stories

and if it helps, I just had my 30K service done at F of LI and many other little things done there too. Im happy with em

Their new service manager Tom Foote is a great guy. He replaced his predecessor and the place has been a joy to deal with. I bought two cars from the dealership already and they been professional and terrific to deal with. Treat them with respect and they will do the same for you.

Stupid question?? Well, not to be rude but I find your comment, for lack of better words, stupid. I'm on the West Coast and the cars on the East Coast. Unfortunately I have absolutely no experience or point of reference with FOLI. What better way is there for one to gather any information may it be pro or con? Are you suggesting that this type of inquiry be worthless? If so, why bother to comment at all. UDALMIA; Not sure I understand your comment, you can take it anywhere and they will all tell you the same thing? How about the Mobile station at the corner? Excuse me, but wouldn't you want to get a few suggestions from other F-owners in the area? After all, its only a Ferrari purchase. Wow, tuff crowd here! Well, to the rest of the crew that can appreciate my inquiry, THANK YOU! Your comments are much appreciated!

Praise from Hubert, John, Utkarsh and Sam.

I'd slam their sales department for being rather rude to me when I went to buy my F-car. I will never buy from them. Ever. Another EC'er, who should send you a PM and explain his situation in detail, was totally FVCKED by them when he went to buy his car. They never even ran a PPI... which he paid for.

I've seen their service work, though, and they are good. If I did not have to speak to them, or know it was FoLI I'd be wholly satisfied with their work. (I'm a bitter prick when it comes to them, I'm sad to say...)

4 praise-worthy reviews. 2 not so praise worthy. Sounds like Hubert's prediction of the responses you'd get was right on. I would suggest that the inquiry is not worthless, but the public responses to be worthless. It's the negative stories that you might get via PM that will make your enquiry valuable. All the dealers on the East Coast read this forum, so no-one will truly come out and post "Ferrari of Long Island sucks!" Except me. (If you're talking about their sales department)

But, lots of guys on this board have had GREAT experiences there, so don't be deterred because I think they're a bunch of small-minded punks. Because lots of people don't think they are. Only me. And I'm probably insane. Well, no more or less insane than Hubert. Who thinks they're great. But not me.

We all know how I feel.

Don't think yours was a stupid question. I agree with Hubert about the service being good. Also, not to speak for Hubert, but I don't think he meant to say you are stupid. What I believe the gentleman from NYC MEANT to say was:

"Thank you for your inquiry. Not to appear off-putting, but your question will prompt a multitude of responses, some of which must be taken with a ounce of skepticism, so you are advised that it may not be the best way to approach the issue"

What Mr. Tsai's attorney told us he meant to say was, "Welcome to the EC. Thank you for your inquiry. Not to appear off-putting, but your question will prompt a multitude of responses, some of which must be taken with a ounce of skepticism, so you are advised that it may not be the best way to approach the issue"

    Emil,

I have to disagree with you 100% on few points.

FOLI sales department has no connection with the service dept. so i honestly don't know how your comments is related to PCH's question. I am sorry that you had a bad experience with their sales people and You have every right to slam FOLI and take a shot at them if you choose to do so but in a proper context and thread. as for their sales department i think they have some of the nicest down to earth not stuffy people working there. i Know what you are going to say next, " well eli you have a relationship with them", all i have to say is ask Vernon about his visit to them this week and read his comments on the other forum. has anyone gone to Miller lately? they won't even look if you are not wearing a suit and smoking a fine cigar.

as for the statement " They never even ran a PPI... which he paid for" , Emil do you honestly believe that a ferrari dealership will jeapordize their name and reputation for an $800 or $900 PPI. they have to give you PPI report on their letter head showing what was done, all the readings and so far. to me it is unimaginable for them to charge for a PPI and not perfrom the PPI unless they are starving for money which i know they are not. They were the number one used volume dealer in the country last year.

PCH, as to your question i would have no problem having any F-dealership doing a PPI on my car . I have used Shelton in the past and also used FOLI and on both instances they have given me a written report on the condition of the car and have been very happy with both experiences. I am sure that you will find many independent shops as well that will do the PPI but it will ultimatley be your choice . hope everthing works out for you.

Emil, i totaly understand where you are coming from and would always appreciate hearing the other side of the story but i did not feel it was fair to FOLI service to take a jab due to your bad experience with their sales department.

P.S i will still buy you lunch next time i see you. by the way what are you having for lunch today?

Whether you are buying a Ferrari at a Ferrari dealership or whether you are buying a Ford at a Ford dealership....you are going to get the same gamut of responses, both from good to bad.

I think the better question you could have posted was if anyone could go 'check out' that F car you were looking at F of LI.

    Eli,

Not trying to start nothing. You know I think you are the man and I totally know that you and FoLI are tight. So is U-man. So is Pchop. So is Brad... I did not slam the service department. I said the service guys are the goods. I also said they do great work, but because I was treated unfairly by their sales guys, I'm scarred, jaded, etc.

I know, I know, I hit them on a bad day and all...

Oh, and the PPI story... A little birdy told me that when they bought their car from another dealership, he had FoLI run a PPI. The PPI that FoLI gave them was clean. When he went to have some work done, they alerted him to a bunch of "stuff" that was news to the owner and should have been on the PPI. He showed them the PPI and was advised that it was "not entirely accurate" and they gave him an updated PPI.

    Lunch: Humble Pie.

    :)

    Emil

Sorry Drew, but the EC Boyz have a tendency of hijacking people's thread.

Good luck with the car and I'm sure all of the boys would be happy to meet up with you when you're in town.

I think you just wanted to use the word "gamut"

For what it is worth, just had a major done there on the Mondi. The price was fair (funny to say that about a service that cost 1/3 of the car's value). Free pick up and delivery from eastern LI, where it is being stored. I have not seen it yet, but my bro in law has. Having seen and driven it before and after, he was very impressed. The car has way more pep and response. I guess any major would get that result, though. He also notes the engine and bay looks as new.

Fish, 'cause it is Lent. I have no idea why, though. I'm divorced and dating a Jewish girl, so I have an EZpass to Hell anyway.
