After spending the winter in the professional hands of Ed's Affordable Automotive Repair (thanks Skip, a brilliant idea!) to get its engine overhauled, 52333 is back in town. Just in time to pose for a picture in front of the world's first multi storied parking garage, which unfortunately is about to come down.

This is another monument to the automotive world, that has no space in this city and was not put under protection as a historic landmark. Built in 1920 for the first Ford T's to roll off the assembly line it was in operation until last year. Now it has to make room for urban development. I bought my car from Boston Sports Car who operate out of a building, which used to be one of the Nation's first Ford T dealerships. So I found it fitting to tie these two places together in a symbolic gesture.

For such a friendly and enthusiastic guy such as yourself, I hope the only problems you run into with your 308 from this day forth is the trauma of too many decisions on what twisty route to take next.

Looking forward to seeing the car this summer,

I saw your car at Ed's while I was there to mount new Michelin TRX's to the Boxer's wheels. Your 308 seemed to appear lost and wondering "where's my owner?" I want to go for a ride !
Well, it looks like it got it's wish, and a happy owner.

    Congratulations Andreas,
I am sure that you were having a difficult time, watching all of those snowy days going to waste (8->}, while you could have been driving.

    Congrats Andreas !!
WRT the parking garage landmark I agree wholeheartedly! Every time I turn around in this area they are using any means possible to tear down history and replace it with whatever is most profitable. Last weekend I heard about a local 150 year old mansion that people had been fighting to protect while a developer was wanting it leveled to put up another insta-burb.... it mysteriously burned down.. there's a shock.

The Swiss even have a name for that: Hot demolition

It is very sad. The worst with the La Salle Parking Garage is the fact, that the owner himself wants it torn down. It was community members who were trying to get it protected, but no.

Since I walk by there every day, I'm just waiting for some construction pit to collect the bricks etc from the garage. I'm gonna take some souvenirs home. One man's trash, another man's treasure.
    :)

Hehe, you might be right. But I'm not an ebay seller (just buyer).

I'm thinking some pieces might make some nice trophies with an acryllic base and a gold plaque on it.

Yes,thats one of the reasons why I don't,(or can't) do that to my 308 myself. My hands are just too big to fit in those little places....I used to love to "wrench" on the Cars I had when I was younger. You'd open up the hood, and all you'd see was Engine....with a foot or so space on either side to get in there and start twisting.....:)

I know. The next big one will be a lot sooner in 4 years time along with a new exhaust system once EPA is no longer an issue.

BTW: Here is a link to the Parking building story:
