My final plea for a floor. They say you can't use ordinary vinyl floor covering because any drip will dissolve the vinyl. What have you used that is durable, etc. I’m looking for something marble-like for my new garage.

I used 18" porcelain tiles. Just make sure the bonding agent is the heavy duty one. Everything just wipes up, you can even hose down your garage. Make sure you do the baseboard with tile too, about 5". Martin, also in the Fla. section did his the same way.

PErry308QV...have you checked to see if you still have oil in the car? How can it not leak...my '85 leaks a little...what happened to "if it's not leaking, it has no oil"?

Where my 308 is leaking would require to take off the belts and stuff... my mechanic suggested I wait until the major service to fix the leak as the belts come off anyway. I like your garage and floor (by the way, I have the same "Magnum" pic). I would post my garage, but I cannot figure out the picture size.

I like the "lego"-like garage floors, but they are expensive. I guess vinyl is cheaper and still looks good...

i didnt chime-in in the last thread, but...

It's just my opinion but that tile looks like its from the floor of a bus station bath room.

My sister had the etched concrete done around her pool and it
looks fantastic. It looks like it cost a fortune, very classy, and high gloss.
Jims tile looks good, but i would go for treated concrete even if it wasnt cheaper.

You can use vinyl tile still, and put down a chemical absorb mat where leaks are more likely to occur. The appearance may not be good, as there's no clear absorb mat. They are usually black, dark red, or dark brown.

I have been using vinyl for over a year now and no problems. Like Perry said if one gets messed up the fix is under a dollar. My tiles were 29 cents a piece and have made it through a Minnesota winter withy no problems.

I got a 2 part epoxy from the local industrial paint supply company (not Lowes/Home Depot).

They can match any color you want. About $50 for 2 gallons.

They do look much better in person. That picture was taken right after I was done laying the floor (took about 2 hours). I have now since then put up cabinets and almost have the rest of the garage organized. After my Lemans is picked up I will take some new pics with the Lotus in its new home.

I would do the stained concrete treatment if you are actually going to work on the car, keep some extra stain for chips and touch up. If its for show the other solutions will work with porcelain tile getting my vote. As for me, I'm going after the poured concrete motif, cleaning out the garage would be like getting a second job.

Go with a proven product like racedeck tiles. After 18 months I had a little oil not coming off with just a mop, so used 409 Kitchen cleaner and the white tiles are like new. Can replace tiles easily also.

On my budget though, the racedeck kind is TOOOO much $$. Are the vinyl floors mad up of individual black and white squares or bigger sheets? Are they easy to install (2 hours sounds too good to be true).

My garage project is FINALLY underway. I was convinced I was going to do racedeck, but here is another option:

    www.ArmorDilloFloor.com

Based in chicago, but they may have affilliates elsewhere. Can get that "granite" look. You can do different colors, apparently no difference in $$$ if you change colors.

Thank you for all your suggestions! Ok, I found this multi-coated 1/4 inch vinyl in 12” squares that looks like marble chunks that they say will stand up in a garage but cost $8 a tile. Still doesn’t look like real marble though. The race flag checker looks modern & cool w/ a red Ferrari standing on top but am looking for the tile/rock appearance of the floor of the Sistine Chapel, some sh*t like that, native to Rome for my black beauty. Any pics of the treated/dyed concrete? I’m really set on marble-look. Dudes, this is the pedestal for my god of beauty.

    gilnsammy,

yes the blk/wht vinyl is a 12" inch square four little squares per title. yes you can figure about 2 hrs per car garage, (1 car 2 hrs, 2 car 4 hrs) At lowes or home depot they are i think about 16 dollars for a box of 50 tiles.
My garage I did for less than $100. :D Might not look as fancy as some but hey it was easy and CHEAP !
I had rather spend really money on the car !

they just peel and stick, just clean you concrete really good first. find center of garge and start laying.

there is thread somewhere here on better details or pm me.

that sounds abit expensive for vinyl I would think you could get real tile for half that price.
