WOW ! ! ! As summed up, tomorrow should be a "titanic struggle in prospect for pole". Way to go Trulli - he's got P1 with Alonso .016 seconds behind. Third is Kimi followed by RS, NH, MW, MS, GF, RB, DC, FM, JM, VL, JV, NK, TM, CA and finally PF. Rubens did have an engine change after practice so he will loose 10 places as does Nick Heidfeld from yesterday. The third sector seemed to pose a problem for virtually everyone except Trulli. The plot really thickens now with Toyota and their qualifying performance from today's session. Going to be a short night here for us since Sunday qualifying commences at 3 am. Carol
Anyone can get pole between these guys... 1. Trulli Toyota :1.14.795 2 Alonso Renault 1:14.811 3 Räikkönen McLaren 1:14.819 4 R. Schumacher Toyota 1:14.870
It's beginning now to look like Imola was a one hit wonder for Ferrari, and they're back to the doldrums.
I wouldn't count Michael out just yet: He made a mistake and lost some time, so he can be faster than his current place. But I agree, he is probably not a contender for the win. Should be a fantastic race tomorrow, big battle between the top four guys. Kimi seems to be on an all out revenge, without his mistake, he'd be on pole. Trulli has shown last year that he is fast on this track and Alonso, well it is home advantage for him. Can't wait till tomorrow!
^^ Michael could be on a harder compound than the others - therefore should be competitive in the closing stages
Both Rubens and Michael hinted they may have a better tire when it gets old in post qual interviews.....so you may be right. Let's hope so. d
at least now can we admit that Villeneuve absolutely SUCKS, is washed up, does not deserve to be in F1, and ought to just retire and avoid further shame? Or are there still some folks deluding themselves with excuses into thinking he might still have something for them?
Ending up about a second behind Massa is no badge of honor. But let's see where they'll end up in the race. Sauber knew that their car would suck in Barcelona before they went there based on their last testing session. I have the feeling that didn't help JV's motivation (although that's not really a good excuse). It's no help if Massa is fast but can't finish without an incident.
Analysing sector times and the best overall package is roughly this order: s1, s2, s3, Driver. 4th, 4th, 2nd, Trulli. 11th, 3rd, 1st, Kimi ... thus maybe a mistake or car sncks in first section? 5th, 1st, 5th, Alonso. 3rd, 5th, 4th, Nick ... extra track time helping Nick, or MW sncks? 6th, 2nd, 3rd, RS ... thus Toyotas are good as both cars working. 1st, 6th, 6th, MW ... thus Williams seem okay too. ... 2nd, 9th, 8th, MS. 8th, 12th, 9th, RB ... thus the usual useless RB in this first sector ... but Ferrari/Bridgestone package sncks. ... 10th, 7th, 10th, Fisi ... and as always Fisi sncks, over 5 places behind Alonso in every sector. Interesting Pete
I dunno what happened to Jacques today. At Imola he was good.. (you can't say he sucked) Hope he makes a great start tomorrow just like he did at Imola.
Speed just aired round one of qualifying. During the interview, we got a chuckle out of Alonso's comment about the fans and that during his qualifying lap he was able to observe the fans on the big tv and was still able to pull off P2. 6 hrs 8 min countdown to qualifying. Carol
Don't ever count Michael out. There still is not a man on the circuit that can match that man. Nobody. Period. I'll go "heels" with anyone that disputes the claim. Bridgestone should be kissing his arsch. It's essentially Michelin that's dominating and Bridgestone whose tails are being kicked. My most humble opinion...
Kimi P1 again - wonder how long his race will last today?!? Start should be interesting with Webber next to him on the dirty line. The crowd went wild but their man Fred only got himself P3, Ralf just beats out Trulli but Toyota is P4 and P5. Speculation is that MS is heavy so his P8 is really of little concern. Smart move of NH and RB not even putting the final qualifying time on the engine or wear and tear on the tires ~ they were penalized ten places anyway. Start should be VERY good as it would probably be safe to assume that KR and MW are very light on fuel and it promises to be a drag race for them (I doubt either will give to the other). So here's the line up: KR (1:16.601), MW (1:16.626), FA, RS, JT, GF, JM, MS, DC, FM, VL, JV, NK, TM, CA, PF, NH, RB. Could this be an interesting race or what?!? Just wish Speed was carrying it live but thank goodness we have the computer to "watch" it live. Interesting weekend for upsets - Kentucky Derby was one for sure ~ highest payout in history of the Derby as Giacomo was 50-1 odds with a payout of $102.60 on a $2.00 bet. Hope he can pull off the Triple Crown. > 3 hours to race time! guess I'll go feed my horses and cows so I can have my chores done and be ready for the race. There are very few on this thread this time - we must be the only ones who want to know what's happening when it's suppose to be happening Carol Drats, MS is in the same row with JM.
Good morning, Let's do a "race" version!! T-storms just started here so hopefully we won't experience the usual power drop. Carol
